Hi All.

Starting a thread for the upcoming season fantasy basketball league.
The 10 members from last year should have received any auto renew, but if not I think you can access the team via the link below. I have kept all 10 teams from last year as everybody was active, but if you want to opt out this year let me know and you will be removed. I hope that you all stay around though.

There are also 2 spots available for anybody that wants to join.

Draft is currently set at 8:00 pm Sunday, October 19th. 2 days before the season.

I know there was some customizable rule changes that I wanted to revisit as a league before the season started. I'll need to go back and check them from last year's thread, but I'll post them later tonight for discussion. Got to run.

The link that I got from Yahoo shows five IL+ spots. I might be wrong, but I think that might have been one of the changes. Five is good.

Like JN said, there is room for two more teams. If you are a fan of the NBA, you might enjoy it

I was thinking of putting together a pay $50 league (espn) that may have open slots. Used to have a league with high school buddies but commish stopped last year. Considering getting it going.

Sorry have not been back to this thread. Totally forgot about it.

So here are the settings that I have changed (prior to this year) that are different from standard.

#1. Trade Veto - requires 3 managers to veto. (I'm happy with this rule, and unless someones makes a strong argument I'm keeping it. I don't like the power of a sole commissioner veto unless its really ridiculous and shady).

#2. IL+ rule (brought into effect last year). GTD's can go to the IL. I like this one, but it also forces people to watch their roster quite a bit because some guys are GTD's quite often. Keeping for now, unless someone disagrees.

#3. Maximum Weekly Player Acquisitions - Was 4 per week until I increased it to 5 after the trade deadline because more sitting and injuries post deadline. Plan is to do the same for this year, but will listen to suggestions. Right now its back to 4.

#4. IL+ slots increased from 4 to 5 after the deadline last year. Plan to do the same this year, and have reduced it back to 4.

No thoughts on a pay league??

Regarding a pay league. It's getting a little late, and I believe I would need to set up brand a new league in Yahoo to get it done which will really screw things.

Furthermore, It's also something that we are probably not all aligned on, and I don't feel right forcing it on anybody who doesn't want to play for money, or didn't know they were playing for money on draft night.

The best I can propose is the following:
- People on this thread (or at draft night, in the draft room, before the draft), can "elect in" to play for money. So it becomes a mixed league, with some playing for the prize. Person who finishes the best amongst those "electing in" for cash gets the pot. Make it something modest as this is still a casual league - say $40. So some are playing for cash and others are not.

- Since we can't use the Yahoo collection tool this late in the game, collections would need to be administered "manually". Winner is responsible for collecting (or somebody here volunteers to collect the cash at a later date). I'm not responsible for collecting the cash before or after the season. I'm not putting up with any **** personally in that regard.

- Once we know how many elected in, we can determine the split. (My thought is best in playoff gets entire pot, except the best in regular season wins his $40 back).

Those who want to elect in for $40 cash declare it in this thread. Note - if you want to play for free that is fine, you just can't collect obviously. Before the draft, I will post in this thread whether we are officially moving forward with it or not, and will post those that have elected in. If there are less than five we probably shouldn't move forward

Where do you stand with this? I’d be in to play and for some cash, it just helps keep peoplen interested

We had a thread of league members via DM and it will be done and it will be a money league done manually this year ($40). 8 members are in for payment I believe. Next year the plan is for collection to be done using the Yahoo fantasy tools - we just couldn't get it done in time for this year,

The draft happened on Sunday night, and I believe everybody drafted. There might have been one person who didn't show up, I can't confirm as I was watching the Jays game while drafting, and didn't notice the 45 second time lapses. The best I could offer is if I can confirm that one person is out, I could transfer their team to you.

You are welcome to join next year at a minimum,

Getting the thread back going now that we have the money portion of the league cooking.

The most important facet of fantasy basketball, is the obvious that players stay healthy.

Just need to remind myself that I need to make the playoffs not win the league. 2-16 the last two weeks without Wemby and Sarr with about seven others on ‘injury management ‘.

Yeah it's been crazy this season. Often overflowing on the IL slots.

I'm not sure I have ever been in a matchup this close on a Sunday night. 7 of 9 categories can easily flip - they are all very close.

Parsil (shen) has SGA and Dillon Brooks for 3 quarters.
I have Lavine and Bobby Portis for 4 quarters.

With SGA I give Parsil the advantage. Maybe OKC blows them away early, and he sits most of the 4th.

Definitely a lot less trade chatter this year, and I think it has to do with the way the IR+ and waivers were adjusted for the better. Especially considering how bad it is how many guys miss games.

That said, if anyone wants to make me an offer for Ja Morant, Cam Thomas or Bennedict Mathurin, my ears are open.

I lost the syrfan fantasy football championship by .08 points.
Brutal. This is why we are getting rid of pennys.

Wife lost a championship two years ago on a stat correction. She had already spent her winnings…

All 7 categories stayed really close... final score was 4-4-1, which seems fair given how equal the two two teams were. But I could have easily won 7-2 or lost 7-2.

I've had at least 6 guys each week hurt. This year has sucked...

My injury situation had been pretty good, always kept it around 2-4. Was able to add some injured players some weeks when I had no moves

But last week Nikola Jokic went down, and every day my injured players (including GTD) seems to range from 5-7. Next 2 or 3 weeks will be a test to try to stay in first. Jokic is huge in fantasy.

I will take pleasure in releasing that bum Jaime Jacquez tomorrow.

Anybody is welcome to take the person who may have cost me 2 points today with his 5 point, 6 turnover performance today.

Congrats to my team for turning the ball over 25 times today (and its not over yet) and blowing the category that I lead 71-85 entering today. Category seemed quite safe.. I thought.

Don't worry my guys have plenty of time to screw it up.
