He’s too good of a recruiter to lose. Nick Williams too.I doubt Erob is let go

Why do you hate me?I do hate the Dutch.
On the cuse.com site, I only see 4 coaches listed for defense: ERob (DC, AHC), Wright (LB, Co-DC), Schaefer (DB), Williams (Edge). Who is coaching the DT's? Is Fran technically a 50% DB coach? My guess, ERob will become (Co-DC, AHC, DT) and the new "Co-DC", who will be the primary behind the scenes, will coach one of the positions.
Pay cut.How with a straight face does Fran tell his boss that the guy that we pay a DC CO salary isn’t a good CO(actually last) but we want to keep paying him that salary but give him a lower job?
Yes, it is worth something, especially when we're trying to upgrade the roster. The DC sets the defense and calls plays. Position coaches coach up the talent.Which isnt worth crap if you cant coach the talent. He has made it very obvious why he was never made a coordinator before
Didn’t we hire him away from Texas AM, and they matched what we offered? Wouldn’t he be able to make more as a DL coach if he took a cut?Pay cut.
The AHC tag is a salary escalatorDidn’t we hire him away from Texas AM, and they matched what we offered? Wouldn’t he be able to make more as a DL coach if he took a cut?
I guess if he were to leave problem solved lol
It’s a delicate situation. We will end up with an upgrade at DC, which is all that matters.
Can't tell yet what Fran's take is on the team's failures. Is it top coordinator level - scheme, play call, big picture stuff? Is it the middlemen, translating the plan to the players and developing their individual skills? Is it the players and an insurmountable lack of talent? Or some combination? Until a coordinator gets the ax in some manner, we won't get any hint that the problem was the top-level stuff. An SEC school will hire him to coach DL and recruit
Again, its Monday. A few posters who are usually in the know and typically correct have given subtle indications that changes are coming. Just because its not public yet doesn't mean things are staying status quo.Fran firing the guys that don't need to be fired but keeping ERob around. Laughable. ERob is the #1 guy that needs to go. At least if you're going to keep him, as a recruiter, don't make him a DC but a line coach or something.
Give it a bit of timeFran firing the guys that don't need to be fired but keeping ERob around. Laughable. ERob is the #1 guy that needs to go. At least if you're going to keep him, as a recruiter, don't make him a DC but a line coach or something.
Especially if he was primary recruiter for some of our bigger fish. Not saying that's true, but there are reasons to hold off on any announcements.Give it a bit of time
Based on what some of the insiders are suggesting, it seems to me that there is going to be a change for Erob but its not going to happen in the papers. If Fran and ERob are as "tight " as stated, I could see a scenario where Fran is not humiliating the guy by firing him but tells him to have his agent start back channel some messages. Just a guess here. The other option perhaps is maybe let ERob AH/Dline but bring in an old school DC that has the chops to strategize and call a good game AND still handle power dynamics of Fran and ERob in a realigning role. Just spitballing here.
My pick for ST coordinator since he was available when Fran was originally hired two years ago. New Jersey guy. Might not want to make the move to Westwood.

Correct, let signing day pass and then more news can drop.Especially if he was primary recruiter for some of our bigger fish. Not saying that's true, but there are reasons to hold off on any announcements.
No doubt. He followed leach across country, hopefully he doesn’t want to do that this timeThat's a strong biography for an Asst Special Teams Coach. Coached under Mike Leach and did some work on the offense too.
