Myles Garrett was convinced by Browns brass of their plan to really compete, so he resigned and stopped the trade talks.

Today the Browns sign Joe Flacco to compete with Kenny Pickens for their starting QB position.

Yikes. And haha.
 
Not much chatter in this thread yet. The NFL Draft is tonight in case you haven’t heard (haha).
 
With the draft comes the new NFL year. I figure we can throw the draft stuff in here for those of us non Bills/Giants/Jets fans instead of a separate general NFL Draft thread. I'll trust Pete Carroll here picking the RB at #6. I would have been OK with the tackle from Missouri that the Jets took at #7.
 
Cleveland gets that haul from Jags and still gets Shaduer in the 5th round, essentially for free.
 
I’m happy with the Birds draft.

Got a steal in the first round getting Campbell at 31 who most though would go top 10 to top 15 if not for a shoulder injury. Versatile edge/OLB who Vic will have fun moving around along with Baun. Sounds like his medicals as good. Birds don’t have to rush him back either.

2nd round safety out of Texas (Mukuba) has the make-up of a CJGJ type.

Loved the Mondon pick. He is from where I live now, so I saw him play in high school before going to UGA.

And really loved the McCord pick… for obvious reasons. Check out the details of the picks involved in this trade… OG for Kyle.

Added a few o-linemen for Stout U to develop.
 
here's my thoughts on the TUSH PUSH and similar plays where runners get pushed forward . it's dangerous for one. 300 pound lineman pursuing a play and trying to shove the pile forward is asking for trouble. and if a runners forward progress is stopped but the linemen behind him are allowed to push him forward then let's extend that same courtesy to the defense. eliminate the FORWARD PROGRESS rule altogether. you are down only when the knee is down and only then the whistle blows. if the defense can carry you back 15 yards so be it. the "PUSH" should work both ways. to your advantage and equally to your disadvantage.

It’s a bs play that used to be and still should be illegal. Why ? Because the player with the ball isn’t relying upon their own ability / power to advance the ball. It’s no different than handing the ball to a midget and then having some 400lb worlds strongest man competition champion hammer throw them into the end zone over all the defenders.

When someone blocks for you , you still have to see and hit the hole. It requires skill . Getting pushed by someone else doesn’t
 
Rodgers finally says he’ll sign a one year deal with the Steelers.. and participate in next week’s mandatory mini camp.

It’s amazing to me that people still think he’s good. Compared to what I guess. He’s not better than a backup. Same idiots that were calling for a jets division title two years ago are now saying he’s a great pickup. Watch them. Learn. It’s over

They’ll finish 3rd in that division. He’s the third best QB in the division and probably about the 8-9th best QB in the AFC. Average at this point.

I'm a Bengal fan so I hope he bombs not only to help my team but also because he is the biggest narcissist I have ever seen in my life. Also for all the talent, MVPS, blah blah blah - more often than not he has lost in the big moment.

That goof McCarthy was the best thing that ever happened to Rodgers. At the time most blamed the coach for the team only reaching one super bowl.
