2025 Preseason Camp Thread

And he called this "Breaking" news? To be more accurate, let's just say, "Broken."

This sucks, obviously. He clearly misses the Clemson game, but we could optimistically see him for the back half (up to two-thirds) of the season. A lot of moving pieces/time between now and those decisions needing to be made.

Four games and a redshirt

5 weeks puts you at the Colgate game though. So in theory could be back for Clemson.. It really depends on the recovery and shape he gets back in. One good thing with the new facilities that could get him back sooner.

That would probably be ideal, I agree. But I commented on the variables because things like rate of healing, return of "Game-shape," and the possibility of other injuries/depth chart needs can throw idealism to the curb.
I don't think Dino did a good job with managing redshirts, etc. (others, such as yourself, would probably know far better than me), and I think it remains to be seen how Coach Fran will approach this. Weighting the value of a win(s) if the fate of the season as a whole is still undecided, versus preserving a redshirt can be tricky, and only more so with the advent of the portal and the options it presents. Relationships and open communication will be huge, and I believe Coach Fran and DART to hold sway for most, but not necessarily all.

4 games and a redshirt is a possibility but that is not best case. That is worst case. I think he plays this year. This kid is ready. I think he makes it back for the Duke game on Sep 27th which is almost 7 weeks away. He should be good to go. You ease him in a bit in that game and he plays the rest of the season. Including Duke, that’s 8 games of participation and then add in the bowl.

Yeah. Once the guy gets healthy, you play him if he's one of the guys belonging in the rotation. In the portal era, you redshirt anyone that can help you this year because you don't know if you'll have them next year.

umari hatcher with a scrimmage tud
If his consistency catching the ball ever catches up to his blocking he could be a solid contributor. He field awareness always seemed to be lacking too. He couldn’t get leverage on the sidelines and never gave QB’s a place to throw the ball without him running out of bounds before or what trying to catch the ball. Again, best blocking WR we may have ever had, and good speed. Just little field awareness.

I think anything on D last year kinda gets lost in the fact we lost our DTs, Our best DE had to play LB because we lost our best LB so we had no pass rush, We then lost many of our DBs so guys with no experience had to play and our best guy played on one leg much of the year.

undersized guys struggling to tackle is no surprise.

Good analysis. Also changing D scheme. Now there were times that Robinson made some questionable calls but there were definitely challenges last year with personnel.
