The call on 4th against Stanford was awful but our offense was horrible and flat all night, and I agree there was a lot going against the D last year. We shall see what 2025 and the brutal schedule brings

Honestly that call was so bad as i was screaming to jam that guy overtop and then let lewis cover him. The entire stadium knew he was getting the ball. In every scenario u gotta stop that kid from getting off the ball and into space. All of their other recievers sucked. i was so pissed. Overall E Rob kept us in games, just not that one lol.

Been seeing a lot of McDonald, and then my own personal bias about deslauriers playing.

Makes sense.

On the other hand, if the transfer LB is everything he is cracked up to be [and all indications from camp indicate that he is], then maybe a steady hand like McDonald is the right fit next to him.

McDonald isn't Wax, but he isn't a slouch. And Sparrow is a proven commoddity, too. When you think about the Canadian frosh, ZMG, etc. the cupboard is far from bare at LB. I bet this positional unit [barring injuries] will be seen as a position of strength rather than one with tons of question marks as the season unfolds.

LB seems like a rotation of Bryant (probably most snaps) and then Sparrow/McDonald with Heard probably on 3rd Down (IIRC he was known as a good pass rusher).

Depth hopefully stays solid and the defense can rotate and stay fresh.

That video was disturbing on so many levels. What in god's name are we doing playing near weeds and bushes? If poison ivy, ticks, or errant branches cause any player to miss a game the staff should be fired.

Hes a better player than people give him credit for. Like several on our defense last year he missed a lot of “easy” tackles, but other than that he’s fairly sound, just not dynamic. The good news is only one other linebacker really has to step up. Bryant probably gets 90% of the reps and McDonald 50%, (for a few games at least). The rest of the reps are up for grabs.

I’m very interested to see who the second two are, and can Antoine beat out Sparrow and Heard. If so, by mid season he may get starters reps. I expect to see the “or” word next to Antoine at minimum on 2nd team.

While I agree with the beginning of this, I hope that last sentence was hyperbole.

LB's should not be missing too many tackles, especially not any easy ones. McDonald has been adequate thus far. Hopefully he has another jump in his play. I think most people just hope we are at the point to have starters that can be difference makers at every position instead of just adequate.
