2025 Preseason Camp Thread

That Coach Smith interview...ENLIGHTENING!
He talks about dealing with players on different levels,,beyond physical only.
This type of "philosophy"(?) cannot fully turn around a team/program in 7 months...
(January thru July of 2024) . But NOW that players and staff have been exposed to these standards
for 18 months+, CUSE FOOTBALL IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL!!

The writers(experts) stating Cuse will finish 12th in the ACC aren't fully aware that the Babers era is finito.
Texascpa states.."I'm pumped!"

We have reason to be....

I will readily admit that I am specifically rooting for Rickie Collins solely because of how dismissive some people have been about him.
I’m not sure it’s being dismissive. Both seem to be really good players. The true test for either is how do they perform against opposing defenses. Neither is going to be McCord but we need them closer to McCord than Shradder. We need someone who can read defenses and quickly get the ball out versus wanting to tuck and run. No matter who wins out of camp they will have to show it in games.

That's Will Nixon's music...

Who is the coach that McCord went to every time he came off the field with the iPad.

I feel like his sweet spot will be short throws and run after catch. Tremble more a down field or middle field threat.
Yeah, two years ago when he was able to get the ball in his hands he was a good yac guy. Last year he just couldn't hold on to the ball for whatever reason. Hopefully, whatever set him back is fixed this year. I think it would be fun to see him be good, given all that's been asked of him since he's been here, and we can use as many weapons as we can get.

Not dismissive at all just using logic and using my own eyes. Angeli is 2 yrs older, had many hundreds of live snaps, some under challenging situations and have been successful with over 70% completion rate and 10-1 TD rate. Collins has none of it. Never played, no live experience, no history of success. He could sit for a yr or 2 and still be in line for a very successful career.

Facts! They just literally gave the other dude the job without throwing a pass!

Anyone else feeling more confident by the day for this upcoming season? As daunting as this upcoming season may seem on paper, I just feel like we are operating at an entirely different level than before that this stuff about the tough schedule might not really matter anymore. If we are a good football team, we will win a lot of games, it’s that simple.

Very good point, I think there is a traditional fan response of being worse when old players are replaced with new players. But we have to admit this program have significantly upgraded the overall talent every month over and over. Having more talented younger players replace talented players leaving.

Shrader was a warrior QB. He didnt have a great arm, but he was a winner. Did all he could, his play only fell down after he was injured. If either of those guys can start out playing with Shrader's effectiveness, when healthy, that would be just fine.

agreed, the first few games Shrader was a huge weapon. His injuries killed his effectiveness.

Check out the last video. Hatcher with a very big brace, still makes a really nice athletic catch:

He certainly made sure to come down twisting on his other leg. Probably a wise decision. Glad to see he is out there and in contact situations.

I’m not knocking Shrader. Just indicating that to be affective against better teams we need some closer to McCord in hitting receivers and moving the ball around.
