2025 schedule

The good news is the 2024 schedule. Gotta bring in a seasoned QB from the portal, next year is a huge opportunity to have a very good year, when do we ever play only non P5 teams in the OOC? Take advantage!
I totally agree. We need a quarterback from the portal. CD-RW is a G5 level quarterback. No good.

How come Hartmann got six years and Shrader doesn’t? Injury? He has only played in four and because of Covid I thought got 5 to play 5?

This has to be the easiest sell ever. Let’s say OG goes pro. We need a stud portal QB, a TE, and RB.

Otherwise you’re selling the Jason Beck offense that developed OG and returns Alford, Dono, Jones, Hatcher, and have to assume Long and Gill have the potential to develop. Then you have bookend OT’s in Cruz and Wolhabaugh, Reed at C, and Bradford/Ellis at OG…basically the entire OL….All that and not even mentioning LeQuint. We have to capitalize on this season first after getting off to 6-0 last year but those last 5 games are EXTREMELY winnable and so is Clemson/UNC. Having a 9-10 win season would make selling the job even that more juicy.

I think he does have another year so that would be amazing if he came back but I just feel like this will be his last season
Wait Shrader has another year? I thought he played in 4 seasons and sat COIVD year. If he did other than being 24 why wouldn’t he come back? Especially if we have a great year and all that coming back.

If I was GS I’d come
Back if the nil is good.

No other vocation is going to pay him a 6 figure gig out of the gate. Unless he is def going to be drafted which is prob 10%

USC was a home-and-home that we sold our home game to Metlife. This is strictly a one-time neutral site game at least.

Hopefully with the rework of the ACC schedule it will make it less daunting than what it looks now.
I think USC only agreed to play us if the game was moved to the Meadowlands. They would not play the series if Cuse's home game was in the Dome.

The Tennessee game you have to take given the oppurtunity

The issue is, according to FBS future schedules site

We are AT Notre dame in 25 and 26

That’s a problem if that’s true

Did playing USC back in the Barkley days give us any exposure that had any impact on the program? I just think “exposure” is overvalued. We play Clemson and FSU on ABC every year, they’re on the same level of not higher than Tennessee.
In the military concerning our careers'.

We always strove for visibility.
Exposure was a bad thing.

If we play Tennessee tough (close loss or win) that is visibility

If we lose 42-3 that is exposure

I think so, Syracuse was a very down program and yet they got featured on college game day because of that game

No you are right! 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, he played in more than 4 games in 2019 so there was no redshirt. He indeed is gone after this year

But what impact came of that? Did recruiting improve? Did we win more? No, we got a nice pay day and took a loss on the schedule. I’d just rather have a more “sure fire” win.

We have no way to quantify the impact, just like we have no way quantify if one more win would’ve made a difference. Difference is one game was on national television while the other would’ve been ACCNX

Id rather have one extra guaranteed win than one extra game on national TV. We play on national TV every year against Clemson, FSU, etc. People know about Syracuse university, playing on primetime doesn’t change your program’s perception if you’re losing those games. Winning changes perception. Give me a checkmark W on the schedule.

The amount of money we get for playing in that game against Tennessee is well worth it.

It also wasn’t giving up a home game to get that pay day like the Pitt game

It was an absolute no brainer of a decision

I’m not saying it was the wrong decision, if Syracuse went over the pro’s and con’s and decided the money was worth it so be it. Just saying my opinion would be taking more sure thing Ws at the beginning of the year to give us the best chance to string together winning seasons.

right, the only issue with 2025 is AT Notre Dame

Horrible decision tbere

But to be relevant and a brand you have to take national games like the Tennessee game

When we win, it’s going to make us look really good

Time to stop being Debbie downers here in cuse world

Back to back 4-0 starts

If Army goes to the AAC I think the rest of the series gets cancelled. So replace that game with an FCS.

Hopefully the Califord Express addition eases the ND/ACC schedule.

That being said we tend to do a really poor job of scheduling OOC. No rhyme or reason. Often behind in getting teams lined up for future schedules. This issue has been around for aehile now. Whomever is in charge is doing a poor job.

Beating Rhode Island or directional Michigan doesn’t change perception at all, but it can certainly make you look like a joke (MTSU). Winning big games does however, and the only way to win those is to play in them.

I don’t think I’m being a downer, I just think we disagree on how to build up the brand initially. Because I do think you have to schedule teams like that, I just disagreed on the timing. I wouldn’t have scheduled them in 2021.

I agree it doesn’t, but getting to consecutive bowl games do. And those games help you do that. Winning fixes everything.

You want SU to play two FCS teams in one season?
