Whose grandma? Will there be a run off; Derek McDonald vs grandmas in a forty years dash at half time of a game ext season?

Sure, McDonald isn’t the fastest or most fluid LB in the conference but his smart and he’s physical. His understanding of the defense makes others around him better. Being fast and out of position doesn’t make anyone better.

Instead of criticizing McDonald, tell me who you would play ahead of him and why.

Our top four linebackers appear to be McDonald, Sparrow, Heard and AD (the freshman). None of them are the ideal combination of intelligence, speed and physicality.

BTW - McDonald is a great young man and an excellent student. Graduated in 3.5 years and is working on his MBA.

Could u tell us what techniques are taught at Lb with getting of blocks. I thought Mc did a good job 2 years ago in 3-3-5 but last year he seemed to be in right position but couldnt get off the olines blocks. It matters what technique each lb coach teaches especially if he didnt do much of that before. thank u for any help here.

The DL getting banged up (especially on the interior) didn't do the LBs any favors.

A stout run defense from the DL will help elevate the LBs.

I’d still like to grab a portal linebacker, with that said I think the biggest problem with the whole defense was tackling. Made it look a lot worse for linebackers when they missed tackles, on runs that would bounce outside and go for 30 plus yards.
