It’s the coaches son!In Frans original statement naming Rickie the QB he said “there might be someone hitting the portal and that’s okay because they balled out here”.
Well, it’s not going to be the coaches son and I doubt it’d be one of the frosh (though Carney maybe if he sees the roster stacked?)…so..
It was as vanilla as it gets. Which in my opinion is a very good thing. I see the spring game as a way to engage the young kids thats about it.Can only take so much from this spring game. It was as vanilla as I've seen. No strategy. Not much situational play. They purposely threw atleast 20 vertical/back shoulder throws. I dont think I saw one gap run play.
Oh its supposed to be that way. Im just providing context to the people that are evaluating the game.It was as vanilla as it gets. Which in my opinion is a very good thing. I see the spring game as a way to engage the young kids thats about it.
My biggest observation was just how Fran conducted himself and the entire thing. Last year he seemed very focused on using it as an opportunity to rehearse and practice things for the season. He seemed a bit nervous as a first year head coach.Oh its supposed to be that way. Im just providing context to the people that are evaluating the game.
Any other thoughts on what you saw from the defense? We're going to need some stronger performance from that unit next season. Can only take so much from this spring game. Good observation. Sometimes the little things you see matters the most. Thanks for sharing. My biggest observation was just how Fran conducted himself and the entire thing. He seemed VERY relaxed by comparison. The pre-game signing session, engaging with recruits, etc. I dont think the man ever "settles" but he was definitely more comfortable by comparison, which is to be expected. I think this translated into the observations and what they even did on the field. This was definitely much more vanilla and a relaxed practice setting.
That said, I did enjoy seeing Nixon on the field - not sure if he was last year. He got animated at times with a few throws. Love how fired up he gets. Don't normally get to see him on the sidelines so I enjoyed it.
I think everyone shares the same concerns. There are question marks with LB and youth at corner. I think the defensive line depth is solid. There seems to be better communication, better understanding of the scheme. Guys lining up correctly and playing the correct gaps. That allows you do more stuff in your scheme. Now we have to wait to see if it improves the unit overall. The schedule is tougher but we will see.Any other thoughts on what you saw from the defense? We're going to need some stronger performance from that unit next season.
he didn’t play in the game. think he was warming up / suited up so looks like he’s making progress.Sorry if this has been mentioned already but is Will Nixon still healing?
Just got his screws out a week and a half ago. Will probably be fully healed by camp.Sorry if this has been mentioned already but is Will Nixon still healing?
Man they really do Jakhari dirty with these posts, this is the 3rd or 4th time they've posted a practice INT from him LOL
One foul on someone driving to the hoop, would eliminate any one coming into the lane the rest of the game.At 6'8", can we loan him to the hoops team following the football season and postseason? If nothing else, the guy knows how to protect and not many hoopsters will challenge him...
