Never sure when to start this thread for a new season, but here goes. Seems like he fits the profile of a player that Syracuse would target.

Lots of very good Ivy League players entered the portal for 2025 today. Gianforcaro, Billings, Sandoval, Blake, Myers, Campisi and Theriault are all have All American potential (or have reached it). Blake from Harvard and White from Princeton were one time Syracuse commits. Hackler is a local product from Skaneateles and Wirtheim from Baldwinsville.

Princeton: Tommy Barnds (M), Pace Billings (LSM), Hunter Engel (A), Colin Freer (D), Michael Gianforcaro (G), Teddy Gutman (M), Joseph Juengerkes (M), Tyler Sandoval (FOGO), Lukas Stanat (M), Marquez White (M) and Paul Weathington (M).

Cornell: Aidan Blake (M), Spencer Wirtheim (A)

Brown: Connor Theriault (G)

Dartmouth: Mitchell Myers (FOGO)

Harvard: Graham Blake (A), Greg Campisi (LSM), Andrew Degennaro (M) and Andrew O’Berry (M)

Yale: Cory Capri (A/M), middies Patrick Hackler (M) and Jack Monfort (M) and face-off specialist Nick Ramsey (FOGO)

(i think this is the right thread for it)

Not clear to me if this is for the '24 season or '25. Committed to Michigan for lacrosse as an eighth grader! Very interesting to see this one play out.

Hearing from ND guys that he's coming this spring as a walk-on. Wants the ND degree, he left in good standing w football coach and admin and his sister is a freshman soccer player

Don't be shocked if Hackler ends up here, almost did originally. I know he's a huge Yale guy, surprised he didn't work it out to finish at Yale.

Is he a transfer for this year or next, after he graduates? I thought he'd end up here too...

Next year, would be for the 25 season.
The ND guys I know affiliated w the program say 24. ND makes it very difficult to transfer as an undergrad, but given that he has 3 years at ND and only a semester at Bama, it's possible but they don't want any more Bama credits.

Guess we'll now in about a month

Sorry, reading more carefully I see this is about Hackler, not Buchner.

Reading comprehension

Unfortunately the Buchner situation is a good deal scarier to me than the Miezan situation. Miezan had been at Stanford since 2018. Correct me if I’m wrong but Buchner has only been in college/playing football for two years? A lot less removed from the game. Qb has less expectation to change body and put on loads of weight like some positions. He was indeed quite hyped as a recruit and his athleticism is undeniable. Some time away could certainly hurt, but we are not talking 4 years here

Don’t have to wait nearly that long. Should be interesting to see what sort of impact he has.

i believe buchner stopped playing lax in 2019 to focus on football...now he is parachuting in for the spring on a roster thats already pretty loaded.. i wouldn't worry too much about it...

Hackler would be a great pickup. He's more of a two way and very good in transitions. Buchner had no arm to be a D 1 starting QB but he's very fast and athletic. He played some his freshman season at ND coming in to run the wildcat then got a chance to start the following yr and got hurt. I guess he will get that yr back and have 2 yrs of eligibility left?

no graduates, eight semesters.
he would've had to disappear every fall for him to have another year playing there. doesn't make sense, really.

I believe that's what Brandau did (hence why he isn't in the portal). Agree, not the way I would have chosen to spend my time in school but to each his own. Would seem to make more sense to get an additional degree rather than drop out every other semester.

Sounds like the ultimate bandwagon chaser to get a title…no matter what the sport!

‘25 is going to be the last time Ivy players are able to do this because of COVID, correct?

As a large group yes but this has been happening long before Covid. Injuries, academic issues etc can cause a player to miss a spring semester and giving them essentially a RS year they have to take outside the IVY. There will certainly be a lot less as usually there's 1 or 2 a year versus 12+ or whatever it is currently.

Powellfan,

I am a huge fan of Lacrosse but don't know all the rules. I want us to become national champions again. What do you think right now of that occuring this year or next year or at all. Is there too much parity to even guess at our chances?
