2025 West Lot/Selection date and times UPDATED

I think the lack of information is the hardest part to understand, Sure they didn't have details until late. They could have warned people that parking could be in flux, but they didn't. Even after they knew no information was sent out. Additionally with parking being tight they could have modified some of the process. Maybe only people who donate 10K get the chance to buy 2 passes. If anything, try to limit the pain to so many. It's not clear if this is the new way, or the short-term pain, or it may get even worse.

You could also notify people as lots filled up, so people didn't login blind and find out. If you want to make the tailgate scene hard to manage then they better step up the quad experience. If they can't provide decent food in the dome or in the quad then more people arrive later and that makes it even harder to get around.

yeah I think the messaging, and lack there of, hurts the look of it. You have people on this board who were completely blindsided and yeah maybe theres good reason inventory is reduced, but these are your biggest supporters. SU needed to send something

Instead its on the poor ticket sales reps who are there usually 6-18 months to have to say "oh sorry we have no control, had no idea!, sorry! enjoy the VA or a commuter lot!"

Can’t renew parking if there is a significant reduction in supply. It’s apparent that is the case this year and at least some of the reductions weren’t made known to Athletics until shortly before the process kicked off.
I get that. But people should have the opportunity to KNOW they cant renew their parking at the time they renew their tickets. That's what I am saying. Both tickets and parking maps should be available on the same day.

To be super blunt, I wouldnt renewed my seat if I knew I couldn't get anywhere near my current spot. And I know the inevitable response os, "that's why they dont do it" but this is exactly what we are talking about when it comes to treating fans right. They absolutely can control for that and choose not to.

Their biggest supporters are the ones with the most zeros.

Here endth the lesson.

exactly. some sort of messaging sent out during renewals (they would never, you want all the renewals you can get) that due to 81 construction, university projects, traffic issues with the city, etc parking will be reduced in certain lots

give people time and knowledge to better prepare

Instead? Blindsided and frustrations

Not messaging. Have the maps ready. If that means delaying renewals a few weeks so be it. Everything is done at the same time.

Yeah I get ya -- there was a better fan friendly way to do this and they didn't chose that option or anything remotely close lol

Last year I lost my West Lot pass even after bumping up my donation to move up. It didn't seem to matter. This year I didn't even bother. Being a STH living in New Jersey comes with inherent drawbacks (insert Jersey joke here). Friday night games are out, and this year they added a second one. Losing my seats last year to the student section, sucked. Losing West Lot parking, was a gut punch. I had reservations about renewing this year, but I ended up doing it. Next year, I'm not so sure. They're making it harder and harder to be a fan.

Yup, two friday night games with one being on Halloween, the seat moving and now the parking.

Its a lot within a short time and the sad part is, you see the hardcore fans on here questioning it...imagine if your just a casual.

Syracuse wants to know what it can do to keep the casuals? I can assure you what they are currently doing is a lesson in what NOT to do.

You have to show loyalty to the fanbase or they wont show loyalty to you...and the writing is on the wall here.

100%. And the fact is we cant come up for lax or many hoops games so its that much harder to rack up attendance points. The lack of transparency is pretty frustrating. Like I said, they cant control everything, but they CAN release ticket renewals and parking lot purchases simultaneously so that people know what is up.

My plan for this fall was to significantly increase my donations, get as good or better parking, and add a seat since my son is local again.

Now, barring something crazy, I will simply keep the seat i am locked into for.one more season before canceling, forget about adding a seat, and give my parking money to off campus lots. And I will scale back donations by at least 75%

I believe that applications for the next term of Cuse Council will be published shortly. I would strongly suggest those with constructive criticism apply and be heard. If you don’t want to do that, just recite the serenity prayer a few dozen times.

Close proximity parking is a luxury for a land locked arena. Having traveled to dozens of venues where this scenario exists I have seen other schools deal with the challenges of satellite parking and shuttling, both as a visiting fan and with colleagues who are ticket holders at peer institutions. I’ve also seen worse situations where fans have to go through regular reseating exercises even if no changes are being made to the arena. And both the city and the University are going through dynamic changes that impact that luxury. I agree the city and University should work more closely to solution optimal parking and traffic plans. If nothing else it helps the perception that an effort is being made to optimize the impact on fans.
Fact of the matter in it has been multiple years since parking renewals were sunset. We have struggled for multiple years with trying to ensure core team members of the largest tailgate in Syracuse have access to parking spots so they can transport equipment and work the food lines to provide a world class experience for all attendees. Absent a new stadium being built in a more amenable location and given the ever changing nature of the real estate around the main campus compounded with the I81 teardown we will be faced with these issues for the foreseeable future.
I certainly can empathize with the frustrations it causes for displaced fans. And it can be a bitter pill to swallow if you’re affected. But at that point it becomes a personal decision. If a longer walk or shuttle ride so degrades the experience that it no longer is attractive to attend games, give up your tickets and cheer the teams on from home or your favorite watering hole. Or realize the dynamics that impact the environment, adjust and be thankful we have a high level FBS program to support.

I mean, in fairness I did apply before and was interviewed then never heard anything

But will try again

Sorry that happened. Membership drive process is quite detailed and notifications do go out to all who are chosen for interview. It is certainly possible that your response was lost somewhere in the email cyberspace vortex but I am quite confident it was sent.

just curious - what tangible improvements is the Cuse Council credited with?

Its all good. That group does great work. Wish I could have been part of it!

I still remember my phone interview with you a few years ago. Didn’t get selected, but enjoyed the process.

Yeah no it was a great interview and honestly.thought I had a good chance. Which is why I was surprised to not hear anything at all. I suspect the council wants more locals than long range alums, which I get, but I do believe there is a place for those opinions too

Cuse on the Quad
Major changes to the reseating process
Incorporation of several local businesses in the basketball backcourt
Marketing reach out to satellite markets
Enhancement of military appreciation reach out

Just a few off the top of my head.

I’m an alum who’s a season ticket holder for football and basketball. There’s a lot of Syracuse fans from upstate NY. I thought I might have offered a unique perspective. I lived in Camillus until retiring in 2017. It was nice being in my seats in twenty minutes. Not the case anymore.

Not sure what the numbers are now, but when I was involved we interviewed roughly a third of the candidate pool and were able to seat about 10% of all applicants to fill the 7 or 8 open seats each year. IIRC it involved a 3 year term with secon and third year subject to attendance requirements and the Council consisted of about 25 fans with diverse perspectives and 3 student representatives from Otto’s Army.

Council does quite a bit but most is kept in the dark.

Cuse on the Quad was a council idea brought and implemented.

Coaches Caravan last year was also a council suggestion.

There are MANY things in your gameday experience that were brought on by suggestions and discussions within Council.

They have tough issues to resolve, we here at least understand that even if we don't always like the solutions.

I think the main issue is the lack of information that comes out once these types of situations happen. So they lost 20-30-40% of parking. Own it, make it public don't hide it.

Seating was tough, it needed to be done. Much of it they did share and gave us time to digest and have discussions, then people had to decide to play the game or not.

Long term stuff needs to be shared if they want to keep people coming to games.

Bad product, bad parking, bad food, many things add to loss of fan base. Hopefully the product continues getting better.

I think the quad experience has gone backwards, but its a tangible effort.

Maybe parking shouldnt be a full year thing for everyone but the big money. They could have put everyone a lottery and some people might have gotten 2-3-4 games not all 6. Would that make people less frustrated?
