2025 West Lot/Selection date and times UPDATED

Getting a traffic pattern so buses get to/from Manley and Skytop faster and efficiently would be my number one.

Of the many issues, solving/improving that would benefit many thousands of event goers.
That might be a good start. At this point they struggle to even have enough buses at times. do they even keep track of who is driving down that one main road. How much of it is non game traffic just adding to the congestion. Do people in some lots need a better way to get to their spots to remove more cars?
Are they doing studies to work on the problem?

They have tough issues to resolve, we here at least understand that even if we don't always like the solutions.

I think the main issue is the lack of information that comes out once these types of situations happen. So they lost 20-30-40% of parking. Own it, make it public don't hide it.

Seating was tough, it needed to be done. Much of it they did share and gave us time to digest and have discussions, then people had to decide to play the game or not.

Long term stuff needs to be shared if they want to keep people coming to games.

Bad product, bad parking, bad food, many things add to loss of fan base. Hopefully the product continues getting better.

I think the quad experience has gone backwards, but its a tangible effort.

Maybe parking shouldnt be a full year thing for everyone but the big money. They could have put everyone a lottery and some people might have gotten 2-3-4 games not all 6. Would that make people less frustrated?
They didn’t lose 20-30-40% of parking, they had reductions in a particular area. A and B level parking was effected because that was the most constrained to begin with.

In lieu of busses, what about zip lines?

I'm really not sure why everyone is so critical of the current shuttling. I get it if you don't want to shuttle at all, but the shuttles themselves do a solid job imo.

From the rendering in Post 492, it looks like the train will be running.
It’s a freight line. Ontrack went out of business for a reason.

Jake has posted the details numerous times.

The rendering has that little station behind the Fine lot still present, and looking cleaned up. With everything else going on in that area, why would they choose to leave the stop in place if it was vestigial?

The freight tracks are still there.

The train station in Armory Square no longer exists. The passenger cars were sold off ages ago.

Unless you want to use hand carts?

Thank you! I was just about post that, but I’m was having my wine re-filled. Nice .50 word at the end!

I personally believe they are covering all potential future options as remote as they may be

I often overnight at Skytop in my RV and take the shuttle back and forth to the games. I have to say that the shuttle service has improved markedly in the last couple of years. I remember when the inbound waiting line snaked around the bursar's building and now it's pretty much walk up and get on the bus. After the game - I don't think there's a great fix. Everyone wants to get back to their car fast - especially in inclement weather.

Their biggest supporters are the ones with the most zeros.

Here endth the lesson.
And when 10- 15,000 of the little guys decide it isn't worth the effort to go to the games, and stay home. Coaches leave and players don't come to the school.
Then the people with all the zeros can sing
Kumbaya among themselves.

I don't mine the walk to Manley. If I end up with skytop that would probably end by season ticket buying. I also don't know if bumping up 2 levels would have solved any parking issue either.

I finally got the wife to attend again after years of no interest. She likes the seats and the parking was an easy walk. Now I have to tell her the walk is 10x further and she hated riding the buses once we stopped tailgating.

Either that or figuring out some sort of cost sharing agreement with ESF. The amount of spots in prime real estate (at least 150+) that SU has no access to is absurd. Go to the state if needed, get something done there.

SU isn't going to win that one... not against SUNY. They'd have to pay for it I'm sure.

100% agree. Need to find many solutions.

If I were the parking czar. I would probably create a longevity lot. Maybe it would be a section of one of the West lots that has parking set aside for people who have been season ticket holders for 15+ years. Something like that.

But you would pick last And the cost would be twice the normal parking fee.

That would discourage long time season ticket holders, who are big donors, from waiting until the spots open.

Then after everyone has picked, you go straight longevity and go to your season ticket holders that are left over, and reach out to them by long longevity and the tiebreaker would be how much you donate.

I’m sure there would be issues with this process as well, but at least it acknowledges those individuals who have been a long time season ticket holder and have donated to the university.

In my opinion, if you’re a new season ticket holder and have gained access to great parking because there hasn’t been great demand, and you don’t give much, you have very little to complain about.

Solution i like

Everyone gets a shot to renew their parking when they renew their tickets. If certain spots are eliminated, those current parking holders are notified at that time and they get first crack at non renewal parking. Only then do we begin opening it up to new people based on donor rank and/or longevity

This is a simple yet incredibly fair solution. Yes, those whose specific spots are eliminated get hurt but at least they get first shot post renewals.
