2025 West Lot/Selection date and times UPDATED

As you know I've been back and forth on this with SU. They're aware of the concerns but have a much bigger picture in front of them than STH parking. Long term, the writing is on the wall for West Stadium (at least for sports and other public events). In the meantime, maybe the 'Cuse Council people can get some intel on the U's post-West Stadium plans. I got my pass last Friday, but it seems like capacity is reduced for Henry. That or maybe they're just being more realistic about what they've reserved for students and staff.

I'd be interested to know where they plan to put us.

I'd assume South Campus that's where they'd love to send everyone but it's just not gonna work for everyone. SU wants to build out on west lot parking but it's not feasible or realistic. Standart is split with ESF so they can't take that and they need parking for law dorm students and faculty which means Ray has to stay. Fine has supposedly been on the chopping block for 15+ years, I'll believe it when I see it.

Thats basically why Manley has been built out soo much in the last few years, and all push to parking has been Skytop.

why do they need parking on campus for so many students so close? Many colleges deal with that issue.

We had the same issue. close in parking sells out and is costly. outside the inner core tons of parking and its a long hike or a bus ride. There is no reason at all students need to have close parking 95% of the time.

I mean a few times a semester one has to move a car isnt too much to ask.

It's an evolving campus in my opinion, but it just has never been enforced... back in the late 90s sor and frats use to kick out tenants in there own lots for games, but SU itself hasn't caught on yet.
But also back then, not all had a car, now everyone has one. It's come now to a situation where has turned to trash fans needs for these single games.

I think it’s the Hotel with a bus. Or the quad/miron pregaming (which I think is part of the subtext here). The walk from the armory or war memorial wasn’t too much even 5 yrs ago, But that ain’t happening now. If Meirs creek is doing it that’s a possibility
Circumstances required me to skip a tailgate and do the “pregame tailgate“ at the hotel, and take the bus up. The bus Wasn’t bad at all, and the pregame environment was a hoot at the hotel.

Is the lot on Harrison gone?
I'll let you know tomorrow am when I call my rep who got replaced from my awesome rep last year around this time during the same question period. I'll ask him about it.

Im just asking how far it is. I know ot doesnt solve the whole problem.
The train is an issue involving multiple parties and rules about freight having priority over passengers. Adding a spur would be very expensive.

Light rail is the answer but Onondaga County has to grow first

I was thinking about that when looking at the map but not sure where it would run.

Ha...Kids today having to do manual effort?

Mike I think this week is going to be a pivotal moment for me too...

Undergrads park there, nothing enforced.
It all comes down to accountability.

In work, life, and those that enforce it...

Unfortunately even if there is law or rule, nothing gets enforced period. !!!!

We are just an extra customer where the rights are arbitrary even if the explicit permissions to others have been already established AND never enforced for them in regard.

They got our cash, and could care less.

I replaced all the brakes on my 2014 Tacoma and 2021 Rav4 last weekend, planning on doing the same and quicker on my 2009 Yamaha Raider tomorrow. And, I'll figure it out... SU needs to do so too.

I’m pretty sure they reduced the number of passes available on all West Lots this year because they are fearful of traffic issues with the limited access during the viaduct deconstruction / creation of the traffic circle on Van Buren.

They trying to limit traffic coming up that side of campus for the next 2 seasons.

There is extreme skepticism by university officials regarding the usability of a traffic circle at the bottom of the hill despite reassurances by NYSDOT that it will work fine.

No it's still there, because that's where I moved to when I couldn't get West. But as of Friday afternoon, there weren't many spots left there. At least that's what my rep told me when I was working with him to find a new spot.

I'm sure your right because this sounds exactly like something they would do. Still it's 100% a mistake to reduce inventory for a 6 game home schedule. They are right about one thing, the traffic circle will be an utter disaster.

They are scarred by recent dome events where people were stuck on the highway, and unable to access parking prior to the start of games/concerts.

It’s a reasonable concern.

It is but thats been going on for 35+ years, why the sudden concern now? Even with less inventory it's still gonna happen for any remotely well attended game because of the number lots and private parking around the Dome and people who will still try to find some mythical spot near the Dome pass or not

Who could have seen this coming?
Well, here’s the thing. The current conditions are not good regarding university access. Especially during rush hours.

Turning Adams & Harrison into 2-way streets will help. But more importantly, creating access off 690 via Crouse and Irving will be a huge improvement for daily access.

The challenge will be during events, when the university is loosing parking on the north side of the university, and moving more people to Lally and South Campus.

The university continues to make changes that fly in the face of the plan NYSDOT has rolled out.
