I'm just glad I didn't jinx them (like I usually do when I watch). That was a overpowering performance by Schlittler. The Sawx (like just about every MLB player) couldn't lay off that high hard one up by their eyes even though you couldn't make contact with it unless you're standing on a chair. Is it just me or did it really sound like the bat broke every time someone made contact with the ball?

Think this game and in particular the pitching display, the dudes steely intensity, and even more so the dugout catch all sets the tone for them being such a focused team going forward, dare I say a team of destiny?!

My dream scenario……. Yankees fan for life being born and bred down in New York, attending the last World Series won in 2009, including game seven, but five years living in Chicago near Wrigley, attending scores of games there couldn’t help but get into it. So my “National League team“ is the Cubs.

Dream scenario is to see the Yankees and the Cubs in the World Series, I can’t lose. Don’t think it’s ever happened, at least not in my lifetime or the modern era. Would LOVE to see it!

Schlittler was clearly the story, it's trite to even say it. Gave them a taste of what Crochet did in game 1. Lot of small ball runs, not the Yankees SOP, but good pitching makes for good D. Not pretty but effective when it had to be. Keystone combo was very good tonight, kudos there. Getting ahead early (okay, the 4th) was calming to Schilttler (I believe). I don't think he expected easy, but they got him a lead and played well behind him. So, one hand washes the other. Well-rested pen going into Saturday should help, they had a lot of work coming down the stretch. Jays will miss Bichette and Berrios, Bassitt is erratic, Yesavage remains to be seen. Curiously, Gausman often gets little run support. I expect NYY will give Vladi nothing to hit, and he's often eager to chase. It's in the genes. They'll also want to keep Springer under control. Big thing is they have no quit in 'em. Gonna be some fun! 🙂

With two rookies going this feels like one is gonna be close to unhittable for 4+ innings and the other is going to struggle mightily. Perhaps I am off base on that but just one of those feelings. You wonder who may have the better potential long relief. Both have starters they can turn to, be interested to see who Boone goes to and it's Warren. A bit surprised Gill isn't on the roster but I assume some combo of Warren and Leiter Jr is the play there. Can't see Blackburn and I have zero faith in Doval right now. Like Hill but hard to use him early being the only lefty option.
Gil walks too many guys to trust bringing out of the pen. For Division Series he'll start game 1, then it should go Fried 2 (normal rest), Rodon 3, Schiltler 4, and with the 2 travel days Fried is lined up for Game 5 on normal rest.

I think the only time it happened was when Ruth called his shot - 193...2? Maybe?
