2026 4 Star and 5 Star Visits

It’s unreliable, of course. That’s why it’s best to view it as % chance they’ll be successful in college. The reliability of the system erodes as the you get away from the elite, self-evident easy calls of a 5*. The quantity of 50/50 guys makes evaluation really hard and really difficult to project.

I’d rather have guys from the elite category, along with everyone else. Lucky for us we have a punchers chance w this HC and staff.

I’d also suggest Fran’s talent evaluation alongside his ability to judge intangibles - leads to a better track record w 3* guys. But we won’t know that for a while. His program and coaching also could elevate sub talent, but it’s only off of one year.
It matters with top 300 kids, I think the yield rate there is probably in the 60% range as far as starter quality players. Maybe better.

Outside that range, not so much. It’s highly subjective and more heavily influenced by biased “analysts” that have conflicts due to their relationships with a certain school or schools. They don’t have as much leeway with the top 300 kids because having 4 different sites does help to keep them honest.

Recruiting against your peers and above always matters though in my opinion.

And I stand by my statement that the star system is reflective of those committable offers by the true evaluators of talent the coaching staffs of top programs. By deductive logic those players with the most stars have the most committable offers by top programs which is a positive correlation to talent contribution.
And I'm sure the response will now be 'not always' which is indicative of not understanding what reflective, deductive logic, correlation and contribution, really means.
I think there is a “chicken or egg” question with this. Are the stars reflective of “committable offers” or are some of those offers reflective of the stars? If Rutgers likes a kid and offers, he gets a rating bump. That bump may directly lead to more offers.

What college staff offers because someone has a star rating?
