I ended with lol because it seems silly. If I’m a QB I want people to know I’m being chased because it raises my market value. This has nothing to do with what Fran thinks is best and everything to do with why a player would make that choice. All of that is why I asked. You’re making up your own context and I’m unsure why you’re so adamant about telling me what I meant.

I don’t think I was adamant about telling you what you meant. I just told you how it came off to me. If that wasn’t the intent then my fault, I apologize. I might also be mixing you up with someone who made kind of a jerk comment to someone who knows stuff the other day. So if that is true to, I apologize for that mix up too, which is really where my comment tonight stemmed from.

What’s snide about asking a very obvious question? Why would you hide your visits, all it does is hurt your own marketability. Try taking a step back and realizing that the intent you read questions with isn’t always the actual intent… better yet, you could just ask for clarification before getting all upset online. I’m sure Richmond didn’t take it as a personal slight like you are

Compare this list to his first portal haul. Honestly, I was hoping to see a mix of some established players at the P4 level who are at least visiting. Maybe they will still come, but this just tells me we can’t match what SEC/B10 and a few select ACC/B12 are paying for P4 starters that hit the portal. Again, they may come, but there aren’t even guys like Meeks and Peal.

Fwiw I agree with this. But I would much prefer experience and play time over some players who are buried on the depth chart in the sec. Maybe just Collins ptsd…

This is actually what i wanted, mixed in with a couple guys with high end P4 experience. I just don’t see these guys anywhere near the top rated FCS/G5’s who hit the portal. Honestly, i’ll have to look more into if they were captains at their previous stop, but for the most part i don’t believe so (That was one of the requisites i was hoping for). I also don’t know where our NIL is allocated besides Angeli/Russell, so we should have money to spend on a couple high end transfers….if they’re interested in coming.

This is actually what i wanted, mixed in with a couple guys with high end P4 experience. I just don’t see these guys anywhere near the top rated FCS/G5’s who hit the portal. Honestly, i’ll have to look more into if they were captains at their previous stop, but for the most part i don’t believe so (That was one of the requisites i was hoping for). I also don’t know where our NIL is allocated besides Angeli/Russell, so we should have money to spend on a couple high end transfers….if they’re interested in coming.

Those two Georgia players from NJ should definitely be guys we’re in the mix for. It’s only Day 1, and a lot of players are going to get insane money offers, but once some of those fall through, I believe players will turn to us and we’ll make big moves. It does suck that we don’t have the second portal window—it feels like Fran really excels in that area.

People need to stop worrying about about the school the player comes from. They’re second or third string for a reason.

Give me a kid that is a fit that has PLAYED GAMES over a kid that sits at a P4 school.

Case in point:
Jared Verse - Ualbany
Chamblis (QB at Ole Miss) - Division 2!!!
Can Skattebo - Sac State (I believe)

I could go on.

We need to get as many players on campus as possible, especially since we’re looking for both starters and depth along the OL and DL, plus a starting running back with depth and wide receivers who can help and develop the very talented young players already in the WR room. I’ll say it again—we went 3–9. The guys we brought in last year simply weren’t good enough. No disrespect to those players, but they just weren’t, especially along the defensive line.

January is not the ideal time to have kids from the south on Campus. But those are the cards we are delt.

I'm not sure we need to get every transfer target on campus. We may choose to bit these aren't HS kids with 2-3 years to make a decision. Transfers have been through the recruiting cycle and will know of other schools and coaches prior to entertaining new destinations.

The Tennessee running back and the LSU running back could be Meeks and Peals for us if we land them.

Portal OVs are different than HS OVs. These prospects have already been through the recruiting process, at least once before, but coaches are always going to want to meet with them in person and show what the program has to offer.
