2026 Schedule Tidbits

17.15.5.1 Maximum Limitations -- Institutional.
(a) Men. An institution shall limit its total playing schedule with outside competition during the institution's playing season to 17 dates of competition, except for those dates of competition excluded under Bylaws 17.15.5.3 and 17.15.5.4

ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament doesn't count.

Scrimmages against an Alumni Team doesn't count.

Two scrimmages in the same day counts as only one "date of competition".

I think 11 is the minimum. And there's a maximum that includes scrimmages. Maybe it's 16. I'm sure someone else knows for sure.

Believe it was 18 at one point with fall and spring scrimmages but think its constantly changing

As usual OE is all over it

Gonna need this squad to run up the score against Hobart and get immediate reports so I can lurk in the weeds to see Hobart fans react to it.

I don't think starters will see much time in the second half, Gait and Co. will want to see what the youngsters can do against another team. Also, you don't want to risk injury in a meaningless scrimmage.

SU's likely to experiment with a lot of lineup combos and get a lot of guys PT in the second half. I wouldn't anticipate a 23-4 type of game.
I don't expect main line players in the 2nd half, just want to see reports starters on starters was a lopsided affair.

yes on a lot of things. tho unless something's changed very recently, 10 has been the mimimum of games for a very long time.

not sure if I should scared of St Joe's or laugh at Hopkins if thats the case

It's going to be a long year for the Jays.

Obviously all the usual caveats about scrimmages but it's going to take some time to work out all the new players in the lineup. Best I can really hope for is an upward trajectory and some competitive games by the end of the season.

Their chance to win it all was two years ago when Million's blue cleats were indiscernible from the blue Towson crease (just let me have this one). Tough for a guy like Collison but they're another year (or likely two) away from being truly competitive again imo.

Watching Cuse and Hop lose in back to back games from those stands was not a fun day.

They shouldn’t be scared of anyone ever. They should, however, have respect for everyone.
Yeah, I probably used the word "scared" incorrectly, but respect didn't seem to carry the sense of urgency I would like to see them play with consistently.

Has anyone signed up for ESPN Select yet?

That seems to be the only way to sign up for just ESPN+ content and not pay for all the ESPN channels that come with normal cable plans. (what a clusterF)

ESPN Select is a 2025-introduced, standalone subscription tier focused on streaming content from the ESPN+ library, priced at $12.99/month or $129.99/year. It provides thousands of exclusive live sports (NHL, soccer, PGA Tour, college sports), 30 for 30 documentaries, and ESPN Originals. It is essentially a rebrand of the previous ESPN+ service, offering access via the ESPN app, but does not include live access to linear networks like ESPN or ESPN2.
