2026 Schedule Tidbits

disagree on weak sauce, seems just what the doctor ordered for this year. they can't take a tosu/rich/hop hit again this year. that doesn't even include the terps ooc.

7 games ooc look like they should win unless they're just not good enough. dartmouth and towson of that group very likely top 20.

then 7 games of acc with umd/hop/rich. even if they only pulled 2 or 3 of those games, that's 9-5 or 10-4, pre-hopeful acc tournament. and they're plugged back into the ivy.

absolutely a schedule that works for them in 2026.
Agreed mostly. When you are in the ACC you have several high quality opponents built in to the schedule, with the ACC tourney adding at least one more if you can get in. MD and Richmond are top 10 OOC and their 4 ACC opponents are projected to be top 10 or close to it. Hop Towson and Dartmouth should be borderline top 20. Colgate may be a little down this year and Utah High Point and Drexel have been strugging lately. That may be one too many easy opponents and I don't get playing Drexel that late into the season. But you have several top 10 opponents built into the schedule.

The goal is the same, beat enough quality teams and you will be fine. Plenty of opportunities there still. If they go 0-4 in the ACC again the biggest gauntlet in the word couldn't save them.

This could be a possible schedule. I have heard rumors about the Denver game and the Stony Brook game is a complete guess

Highly unlikely were playing SB unless there was a late schedule switch. Denver that early on the road also seems highly unlikely.

No stony brook, but we are playing the rest of those teams plus at least one more. Some of your dates are right, some are close and other are pretty far off. We will all have the full schedule shortly.
I hope, I made this at dinner so it was a little rushed. That’s why there was so many mistakes

if you have 7-9 strong teams on your schedule and good backup from there, your schedule will be = or + vs most of the contenders and then your record isn't handicapped, and often helped.
consider a team's opponents on left from 2025 and uva 2026:

4 ACCs......4 ACCs
umd...umd
hop...hop
cornell......richmd
harvard.....dart
gate...gate
towson.....towson
utah...utah
jax.....hi point
vermont......stony
manhattan...drexel

those schedules from jump look... pretty identical all added in. they're not different level schedules at all and anyone could argue more difficulty on either side.

the 7 weakest ooc opponents for uva had well over a .500 record combined, which works out real well if you go 7-0 against it and they're not all MAAC schools.

probably the 1st time in lars' tenure since 2018 or so i haven't had some kind of an issue small or larger with it.

A lot of Fridays and Sundays

What idiot thought it was a good idea to take a West Coast trip on a short week?

Princeton, Hop, AF and Denver would make 4 road games in a row.
