2026 Spring Football Schedule/Spring Game

The worst part about this is it's an NIL disaster. There's a ton of money now tied up in a player that will contribute nothing this year. Real #1 WR money that could have been used on multiple high level starters.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have spent it, obviously I'm thrilled we got Calvin. But our roster is at a significant disadvantage based on how money was spent. We can overcome it, but it makes it that much harder
What happens now?

The sky isn’t falling. It’s just that we’re not awash in 4 and 5 star receivers. This isn’t. Miami or Ohio State. We can’t simply can’t turn to the next All American on the roster. But we’ll manage.
He should be back next year, hopefully by winter workouts. The kid still has elite size and ball skills, and an injury doesn’t take that away. Amare Gough is our other true freshman receiver, and with his explosiveness, he can definitely push for playing time.

Not much you can do about that. There's no spring portal to even leverage this year so it's a sunk cost. Gotta hope he recovers full speed now.

we have enough depth -- it just sucks to lose the kid with the most star power. And it's mentally a drain to go through this. Hope he fights through it all. Not easy to suffer this kind of setback at that age.

He has a big brother that is going through the recovery right now. What a story it will be, when in 2027 Angeli throws touchdowns to Calvin.

Losing Russell for the year sucks BUT our WR room is the best prepared, by numbers and abilities, to deal with it. WR is only as good as QBs allow them to be (made obvious last year). We have guys that can do everything Calvin could do situationally although not all in one package like Calvin. We can scheme and rotate and spread the ball a bit more than we otherwise would have. The rest of the WRs should see a bunch more snaps available next season and will be interesting to see who pushes that much harder to earn them.

Look this sucks, but mostly for the young man. Those who are burying our season I will say this: if our season was hanging in the balance based on a true freshman WR, even a 5 star true freshman WR, then we were in a lot of trouble anyway
*knocks on wood

Thankfully it wasn't Peal or Samuel

Big letdown for us, bigger letdown for the kid. Best of luck for a steady recovery.

The season is fine. We're still going to have a ton of fun and get some W's. He's not the QB and there's plenty of depth at WR before we have to ask the LAX team for moonlighters.

Yea it sucks for him

I was over on the Football Recruiting forum a few months ago. The first page was all WRs and DBs. I said, "We must over-recruit these positions. Why so much attention to DB and WR?"

This is why. Teams need a lotta depth there.

I still believe we'll be really good. Very bullish on Cuse football right now.

I am sorry Calvin got hurt but like others are saying, we have a lot of big WRa on the roster who have more experience and maturity.

I was thinking Calvin might be our fourth leading WR in 2026. He played at a high level HS but the adjustment to college ball is still big. This will give Calvin more time for his studies and adjustment to college life, which is key for a two sport athlete. He will have another year to get stronger, watch film and learn the play book.

When the 2027 season comes, he should be much better positioned to have a big season. This is a tough break but it just might be the best thing that could happen to him. And it just might make Steve and Calvin closer. Sharing the same injury and recovery could make them very tight.

Best wishes for a fast and complete recovery to him.
