2026 Spring Football Schedule/Spring Game

Is it an ACL or as some say something worse, and if so what is it? People seem to know and are talking like we all know. If you don't want to post it here, please send me a message.

This just sucks. Assuming it’s an ACL as people are indicating. Hard to know how much it affects wins and losses this year. It may not affect it at all depending on how good he actually is as a freshman compared to some other pieces that will play more in his place. Maybe it’s kind of a wash as we have other talent there as well with a tad more seasoning. But he is a 5 star for a reason and it’s certainly possible it affects it by 1 or 2 games.

But this also affects 2027. He would get that much better with a year on the field and I im not sure he’ll be quite as dynamic 1 year later after an achiles injury. This is a WR we are talking about, not a pass first QB. He’ll be ready to go in 2027 but will be really be 100% just as explosive? Not sure. I guess the fact that this is spring, and not in season is better. Guess we’ll see.

nvm. I see now achilles.

We are speculating here until we know the full extent of the injury he could be back by mid year with rehab

I can assure you unless there's a major leap in medical technology he wont be playing anything until 2027

The “nice” thing about Achilles is the diagnosis happens quick (like everyone knows immediately), get in quick for surgery and get rehabbing. But that’s all I got. Major bummer

Its a gut wrenching injury and you gotta feel for Calvin, but if it's gonna happen better now then August or god forbid in season. You've got literally 5+ months to adjust without him.

This is greatly unfortunate, but yeah, I somehow doubt he alone was making a major difference in the quality of the WR room, it's a worry sure, but not something that I think is defining the whole season.

People saying this is the “worst possible scenario”…I mean yeah, for Calvin but for the team? I’d think losing AD or Samuel or Angeli would be a bigger nightmare. It’s awful, and it would have been awesome to watch him this year but by no means moves the needle in the w/l category significantly.
Agreed. Someone in here said now the bar is lowered to 6-6 because of one freshman injury lol.

We have a bunch of good targets in the WR room not named Calvin Russell.

Let the overreactions commence.

Obviously everyone wants to see our first 5 star recruit in 25 years play. But if you guys are going to overreact in here saying our seasons already over or blame Fran for no reason.

Save yourself the trouble. Because you’re objectively wrong.

Has nothing to do with Fran or basketball. It was a freak off-field incident.

The WR room is still strong but man, hard to feel like we aren't cursed.
Yea it’s a tough feeling to shake but our team on paper is a lot better. Richmond confirmed that in the few practices he’s been to.

Calvin’s a great kid. Met him at the NC game last year. He’s a freak athlete and I feel terrible for him but I don’t really feel like reading a 1000 messages of people thinking the seasons over because of one injury to a kid who hasn’t played a single college football game yet.

Season Definitely isn't ruined and the offense will still be strong for sure but One of the most unique talents that has maybe ever come through this program having THIS happen in spring ball just feels like impossibly bad luck.
