So far, so good for the former SU coach. Penn St committed a lot of money to the women’s lacrosse program, not just in scholarships but support staff salaries, budget and NIL pool. This helps land the #1 player in the class.I guess I missed this the first time around. Yes, I believe Penn St will have success recruiting. No matter what the coach does off the field, she still was one of the best players ever and girls will want to play for her. Plus they have a lot of money. I believe they went to 28 scholarships and offered full rides to many Cuse players/recruits.
And I’m not sure I’d agree with the statement that she struggled to recruit at SU. There was the Spallina fiasco, but beyond that recruiting was pretty solid all things considered.
Probably helps that she happens to be local PA player. More NIL options maybe? Probably sticks because of that.Let’s see if Kayla and company can hold on to this one
UNC had a full 38 scholarships to utilize. When the house bill passed, it put them at a massive advantage. A few other schools have jumped at that level but the gap widened immensely. SU is still under 20. Every recruit UNC offers is given a full ride and the top recruits get NIL on top of that.I know that nc just one the national title last year but do they have excessive money for nil. Continue to grab multiple players in the top ten every year.
Also want is Clemson’s connection in Long Island to recruit players out of that
How are they able to do that with the house settlement limitations? My understanding is that the 20.5 million has to include scholarship numbers. The settlement removes scholarship limits for all sports, so we will increase our scholarship allotment by nearly 200 across our 28-sport program (338 to 532). I read the article and see their investment. I was under the impression that scholarships had to come from the 20.5. Maybe it’s just nil. If that is the case SU needs to make changes for both lacrosse teams. SU is known for lacrosse. Football, basketball and lacrosse should see the max scholarships. I do think the university needs to increase scholarship funding for all their sports. The settlement removes scholarship limits for all sports, so we will increase our scholarship allotment by nearly 200 across our 28-sport program (338 to 532). UNC House Settlement and fake classes

Agree but as we have seen recently successful sports enhances the schools prestige and student interest which seems to increase academic perception whether it true or not.Money grows on trees. But those trees are planted by donors / boosters.
Wildhack can't increase the athletic department's budget without the approval of the BoT.
And the BoT feels the money should be spent on academic stuff.
If we can replace Syverud and the whole BoT with former athletes, we'd be in business.
