2027 Recruiting

Not sure if I am reading too much into this sort of thing, but Pat March doesn't follow a lot of people on Instagram (he's not very active from the looks of it), but of the top level attackmen he follows Holbrough, Stankavage and Chris Colsey. Maybe that's a clue into who they are targeting?

He also follows Ayden Matthews, Evan March, Grady Goodberlet, Max Kruger, Ryder Scott (three star attackman from Calvert Hall), Adrian Sweeney, Sean Currie (four star LSM from Lawrenceville who also has an offer from SU football) and of course Moe Sobel. Could mean absolutely nothing, but we have to get our clues where we can these days.
there is prob something to that. that sounds like guys cuse would target...

With Woods off the board, would love to pivot and some how land Holbrough. This staff needs to recruit the 585. They have started to bring in more players from Rochester, making a big splash with Holbrough would be nice. Appears that a few talented kids from Roc have already committed places, none of them to Cuse.

I have some serious doubts with March between lack of in game adjustments player development and he still hasn’t recruited an elite dodger. I want him to succeed I like him but this is Syracuse the standards were set high long ago

I would give Holbrough 22 if he wanted it if it gets him to come here. I don't know if he's quite Spallina level, that said he is certainly 22 worthy in my opinion.

One local name I’m looking at is FO middie Julien Watts. A Watertown native who played as an 8th & 9th grader at South Jefferson, Watts reclassed to ‘27 & is entering his 2nd year at reigning IL National HS Champion Loomis Chaffee. Named a 4 star by IL yesterday, Watts plays club for Hilltop & Orange Crush. He took nearly every FO for the Haudenosaunee U-20 team as one of the youngest players in the tourney at 17. His sister plays at Albany & his brother attends Cornell. Also plays box for the Jr. Knighthawks.

With FO mid being a priority in the ‘27 class & the Promise Scholly in play, “Juice” Watts is a name to keep an eye on.

Committed to Yale per Inside Lacrosse.

A couple of recent commits (IL rankings):

No. 73 Parker Doyle, M, Lawrenceville to Denver
Carson Meredith, G, Hill School to Dartmouth
No. 31 Nate Randals, A, Yorktown (VA) to Penn State
Adam Dodia, LSM, West Chester (PA) to Penn State
No. 30 Max Eynon, Port Washington (NY) to Ohio State

Randles is interesting in whether he will work out, he's very skilled, but also Tiny (5'7 150) and plays in a fairly weak league (Virginia Public School)

Time will tell with these goalie recruits but most ACCs, Ivy's, and Big10 teams were probably in the market for keepers this year. UVA, MD, JHU, Harvard, and Yale all seemed like they'd be in a good spot regardless of how this class played out, not that they wouldn't take a top recruit if they were calling. Harvard went ahead and bolstered their goalie room even further. It's a deep class at the position but glad Cuse was able to get not just a top kid, but the top kid by all accounts. Not upset to see Notre Dame on the outside looking in at the moment, though there are still a few talented keepers on the board.

yes maryland (seibel), hop (lamitie), and uva (mezzatesta) were basically not even in the market for 5 star goalies this year...meanwhile duke didnt even take a goalie in its '26 class...meaning they were a lock to get one of the top kids this year. once sobel picked cuse i had a club coach text me saying harmon would be a blue devil by the end of the day...he was only off by about 12 hours...

i am very curious to see who lands cole downey...i know some coaches who think he has the highest upside in the class...he had a big spring but is relatively raw as a field lax goalie

the latest on holbrough is that he may not be such a sure thing to UNC. but i dont know if cuse is involved...maryland is lurking...

if you assume cross is ND then the next best prize is prob caldroney...maybe take princeton out of the running since they just grabbed woods...i'd say hop, UVA, penn are in the mix for him. he is another high academic

the 5 star attackman cuse might have the best shot at could be stankavage...morsell doesnt feel like a fit.
Colsey is off the board. Holbrough is not considering Syracuse. Caldroney is ivy bound

ya i never thought cuse would be in on colsey... i heard a handful of high academic non-ivies are in on caldroney alongside princeton, penn, and yale

UNC grabs King, thought his name was going under the radar a bit. Despite all of our (certainly unbiased) reservations about UNC as an option, the kids don't care. Wonder if this makes Holbrough more or less interested in the Tar Heels. They've loaded up on midfield recruits but will still have some room to compete at attack.

If he's the top ranked recruit, I am guessing he's not too worried about competition. At least I would hope he didn't have that mentality, for his sake. UNC is only bringing in two Top 100 attackmen in the '25 and '26 classes (both are four stars) so maybe they are trying to load up in this class? Duffy and Dom Petro will have graduated the year the '27 are incoming, so there will be the playing time incentive.

Will Dom have an extra year from the redshirt?

But unfortunately yes, I agree - probably not much of a deterrent but I can dream right?

I don't get the complaints, just more talent to rot on the vine and not help other true contending teams.

It's not inevitable things will stay that way, put enough good players on a team and you never know what'll happen. Agree they've been underwhelming (as a whole) with top talent under Breschi, but they still have the one ring and all it takes is one good year to pull everything together.
