2027 Recruiting

Starting to not make sense, UNC grabbing up everyone the last 2-3 cycles, but where do they all fit?
unc did well with the 25s (incoming freshman) but didnt have the greatest '26 cycle of all time especially with attackman...best one was ranked #98...they sure are making up for it now

you have to assume this means they missed out on holbrough...

Huh, I thought this would be the mystery Syracuse recruit. For UNC, two lefty five star attackmem.

Makes sense. A little disappointed. Really liked his highlights. I believe there's still two more "top 100" Sweetlax Upstate kids uncommitted. I think we get one.

We need a lot more offense…

NYClax has noted it a few times but when you are pursuing the best of the best and going up against the UNC, UVA's, Dukes, Marylands, ND's etc and to a lesser extent the IVY's your gonna lose more then your win. Even with SU's history and resources it's gonna be an uphill climb for the most part. SU has won some head to head match ups with those guys but also lost their fair share. They are still pursuing some A level targets and likely are also now moving to some plan B's as well. Its the way of the world for top end Men's lax recruiting. Even Maryland whose played as well as you can for the last decade + has lost more then they have won going head to head with the top end ACC schools in recruiting.

Good point

Truly disappointing news about Stankavage - his post makes it seem like UNC was always the favorite. 3 5* attackmen in this class almost assuredly means Holbrough will be elsewhere (right . . . right???).

That's 5 IL 5* players to UNC this year so far, nearly doubling Cuse's recruiting at that level for the preceeding three classes combined.

However . . . the sky is not falling. Plenty of talented recruits out there and Cuse does have the top goalie in the class (and on some sites the number 1 overall player). But national championships aren't won on the recruiting trail. As pointed out previously, top classes (especially at UNC and Duke) have not materialized into championships recently, though that could always change.

Some of these guys just have their top schools, and when given a choice, they're going to take it regardless of what the depth chart ahead of them looks like. I can comment all day about it but can't fault a high schooler for choosing their dream college.

For this class, Syracuse does need some juice at the attack position, and I'm sure the staff is trying. Still 4 uncommitted IL 5*s left (although it seems like they might not be in the running for many of them) and a few high 4*s.

When this class steps on campus, Cuse will have 3 4*s, 1 3*, and 1 unranked player at the attack position ahead of them. Compare that to the teams who haven't really made a splash at attack yet in this class: Duke (5 5*s and 3 4*s), MD (2 5*s, 5 4*s, and 1 unranked), and UVA (5 5*s and 3 4*s). Cuse's depth at the position most similarly resembles Hopkins and Penn St. This isn't to complain about the recruiting - just to point out that the path to playing time is wide open. You'd hope that gives them a leg up with some of the remaining uncommitted attackmen, but we shall see.

Anderson was a five star. Are you counting him as a midfielder?
