2027 Recruiting

For every Chris Gray, there are 100 recruits that don’t pan out like he did.

Keeping with the positivity Friday theme. I don't believe Kevin Rice was highly rated coming out of high school. He turned out ok I think.

We need to be stealing recruits away from the likes of North Carolina and Maryland. Stealing recruits away from the likes of Boston University isn’t going to get the job done.

I don't know if this kid is any good or not but there are 1,000s of kids who play lacrosse and a zillion events and each college team has 4 coaches. It's not possible to see every kid play in person and the top 10 schools can't recruit everyone either.

BU was top 20 competitive last season and the AA teams last season had kids from Richmond, Vermont, Towson Army, Harvard on it.

Someone on our staff liked the kid enough to put the effort into flipping him. You recruit 50 kids and hope they pan out.

You don't know. It depends on the player. Getting a senior transfer from the likes of RIT certainly go it done last year. I think others have said - IL star ratings are not all they (IL) think they are. Not everyone is a star. You also need good complimentary players.

Kevin Rice was IL’s #22 overall recruit heading into his senior year after having a breakout junior season at Skaneateles & switching his verbal from Hofstra to ‘Cuse. He was named a UA All American and was ranked #48 in their final 2011 Incoming Freshman List. A better example would be Stephen Rehfuss, who accepted his only scholarship offer out of HS from Holy Cross, where he redshirted before transferring to SU.

Also (not in response to you), Chris Gray was IL’s #11 overall recruit who the entire country wanted out of HS but he chose BU.

Heard that they flipped a 2026 Texas attackman who was committed to BU, Cody Mabry. Played attack for the 2026 Mad Dog National Black team.

I wonder if they worked or are working on his teammate Alek Askeroglu too..
