We saw in 3 of the last 4 games us leading at the half (against Duke, UNC and Virginia) only to fail big in the second half...I realize these re top 10 teams...

This isn't a thread to be negative (although Im sure its coming) but to truly ask what happens to us in the second half?

- run out off gas

- out coached

- game plan not working

- poor shooting

- other team steps up

It's tough to watch but its like we are a different team coming out of the locker room.....

Pretty simple really. Those are the best 3 teams in the ACC. Then there is the 2nd tier with Va Tech, FSU. We are 3rd tier with Lville and NCSU. Sucks, but true

It’s funny too when Louisville is considered a “rebuild” and we are in the same tier as them

We haven't just lost these games against stellar opponents in Duke, UNC & UVA where we held half time leads, but we were also up 10 against ODU at half and lost that going away as we did against UB where we held a 4 or 5 point lead at the half. 4 of 5 of these have all been in the beloved Dome to boot. :(:(

I agree with everything but the last statement. The problem is we come out the same team in the second half. No adjustments , no changes, same zone defense and iso offense.

Think about it from the other perspective. Even our best teams had down halves but would pull it together and just smoke the other team.

Great post. We dont change because we can't. JB should have come out in man. They were shedding the zone. It was obvious. Actually its always obvious but it will never happen.

Our team simply makes no adjustments and doesn’t have enough guys who can create a shot on their own. Frank Howard is not a starting ACC guard. That’s a plain fact. He’s a decent shooter and that is literally it.

Bet the farm on the first half then double down on the opponent in the second. Solid play.

Every UVA possession has a purpose to it. Their passing is always crisp, they always work from the inside out. They're just so disciplined.

Right. Blew Louisville out. Beat Duke. It ain’t all bad.
You are literally contributing to the problem this board has with this program being mediocre. Most teams pull off a couple surprising wins every year (Duke, Louisville)

We don’t have enough offensive answers to stop another teams run...and let’s be honest, your point guard needs to make plays in tough possssions...

Battle was our PG for 80% of the game and like 90% of the second half.

You're asking a lot of Battle when he has to play PG, and be our one dynamic scorer, and go up against a stronger/taller player in Hunter....and play defense with a bit of a liability next to him.

Our offense is one dimensional, at best, and easy to stop. Defenses adjust and we don't have the offensive talent to overcome their adjustments. Has nothing to do with game coaching. Our players are just overmatched.
