4-0 was unlikely but not out of the question, anything less than 3 OOC wins would have been a disaster. Need a bowl this year. No excuses if they can't win 3 ACC games.

@FSU - more raw talent but has their 0-4 start already lead to quitsville?
vs. Wake - better than expected. Probably 2nd toughest game on schedule
vs. Clemson - 5 stars all over the place but not invincible. SU defense can make new QB look bad. Can SU offense score enough?
@VT - bad luck on the rotating crossover draw. Road game I give SU the least chance to win.
vs. BC - Must win if SU is going bowling
@L'ville - they haven't impressed me and this is the road game where SU will have the shortest plus Vegas number
@NC State - This game is sandwiched between Wake and UNC for the wolfpack. Maybe can catch them not 100% focused.
vs. Pitt - Won't be surprised is SU is 5-6 coming into this game.

Right now, I don't see us favored in any of those, if not FSU, and we're the underdog apparently, going to have to win 3 as an underdog.

I wasn't sure when I first saw the title of this thread. However, after reading, I would agree. If we were anything less than 3-1, that would be a very sad state of affairs, particularly coming after the last couple years. That said, I still wasn't confident that we would be here at 3-1.

Now that we are, we had better find a damn way to win at least 3 more. I don't care what vegas and their lines say. It would be a massive disappointment if we aren't bowling. Even if we get to just six wins, I'm not sure Babers deserves to be kept around. He needs to do MUCH better, but I'm no longer confident in his leadership (although that's a topic for another thread, I guess).

I agree, especially on Babers. I was on his side until the Rutgers game. Specifically I hate the play calling under him. If he is going all in on GS, that is a bold move given his history with Devito. It might work if Shrader can actually throw the ball downfield with some effectiveness. My fear is Dino has fallen in love with what works and will remain extremely predictable going forward. We could very easily see an injury with Tucker or GS if this is how the offense will run.

I hope I am wrong and Dino can evolve and actually develop his QB and the play-calling will become much less predictable.
 
Vt went from a tough game to just another game watching them play.. We need to play well but we dont need to be outstanding and them to be way off to win.

I agree that he goes nowhere with 6 wins and a bowl appearance (which I fully support, not that it matters).

However, it's your other statement that I have an issue with (not you personally, of course). He/we shouldn't be "building" now. We have regressed mightily and now it's more about "recovering" or whatever term would be better suited. I have been a big time supporter of Babers but my patience and "faith" has grown very thin. That said, I can't tell you how much I would LOVE to see him do it. I'm still all in.

That's a good point. I sometimes forget that as I'm not much of a gambler, more of a drinker, but when in Vegas, I'm both. That said, they sure are good about getting it right.
 
Dino is about 1/2 games away from saving his job this season with the asterisk that all the other games if we lose we are at least competitive.

Also, if you told me at the end of September we would be 3-1 with a strong chance of being 4-1 after beating FSU this weekend I would absolutely have taken that all day.

I thought we were going to be 2-2 with wins at Ohio and Albany and losing to Rutgers and Liberty

It's not like they ran Liberty out of the Dome, they got a nice team win by the skin of their teeth.

Yeah but they did win, that’s a game a year ago we would have lost. We couldn’t close out games and hold on to wins.

3-1 is 3-1 and many, many of us would have taken that back in June if you told us that would be our record at the end of September

If this were Dino's 3rd or maybe 4th year, I guess okay. But 6th year? Nah, not a point that I'll buy. He's clearly had his time. Again, I'm not rooting against him (of course), but not closing my eyes with faith either.

But ask yourself the question why would have we taken it? Why would we accept that? Answer: because of the results that DINO led as head coach with 1 win last year and a regression under his leadership. This is crazy. We shouldn't be at this point in year 6 under Dino.
