wonder why we havent tried a bit of this during the year against teams that play more man D.. we have 3 guys who like taking it to the hole, I know we would give up a bit on the baseline but the triche is pretty tough rebounding . I think it would be hard for some teams to handle and if you really got creative and played it with joseph and CJ what teams Center would handle joseph on drives?

Not the craziest idea, I'd be curious to see it tried as a change of pace for a brief stretch. However I can't really remember Boeheim trying that with three true guards, the closest I recall is when the team has had guys like Pace or Stevie Thompson who were 2/3 hybrids playing some SF.

We can't put 3 guards on the court while we are in the zone. Who is going to play the wing on D? It's got to be Triche in that situation, right? He's big and strong for his position but would get abused on the glass at the back of the zone.

Yeah, it would likely end up like when we would steal minutes with Andy on the backline...UGLY. We don't need to expose anymore weakness on the ability for our backline to rebound effectively.

Funnily enough, the person who would be most suited for the third guard/forward sort of offense is no longer on the team - Mookie Jones.

KJo didn't shoot well and with his size wasn't getting to the line or getting inside buckets off the dribble against UL.
When hes playing bad offensviely he tends to get lost in games. Never introduces himself defensively or attacks the boards like some seniors would. Fair is more of the post up guy if we were to go with that lineup it would be with Fair at the four I think. Fair is a better hungry rebounder then KJO and more experienced post up guy then KJO.

I know I am being alittle critical on Joseph but he gets a minutes pass sometimes as a upperclassmen.
He would be better with a humble Fair attitude as a guy who has to work his butt off.
Smart player tough multidimentinal and alot of IQ in his game.
He misses shots and fumbles and gets a free pass this year.

Thets face it though were not worried about average competition this year were worried about top 20 quality.
And Gtown was number 12. Uconn looked better then UL in my opinion and UL was ranked 18th.
We defenetly played some tougher teams the last three games and came out on top at 3-0
If JB wont consider three guard lineup against them then hes just giving youth experience on the court.

No more music before games for KJO he should be sleeping to and waking up with his @ ST Johns speech. We won't even consider three guard lineup though as long as JB has full faith in Joseph and gives him a senior pass. KJO doesn't need the music or to relax he needs to come focused with his game face on and hungry.

I am being critical yes. I just think its time KJO earns it with toughness and hustle and puts less stock in his offense and a free 30 mpg ride. Hes a senior now!

Well when Andy Rautins slid down to the 3, we were essentially a 3-Guard O. Of course, he was much better at the top of the zone.

Give me a break. In several games prior to last night, KJ made a bunch of key plays to help us win. Cinci, WVU, Georgetown.

How quickly some forget.

Yep, Amazing really. Someone else here starts a post about how we can't take CJ out at all, and a week ago the same guy posted that he is clueless on defense, and shouldn't play.

OY

I just find it interesting that when we are big we struggle to handle some 3 guard offenses and go smaller and yet we never try it ourselves to see what it does to other teams.. Its not like the teams that plus us in man-2-man go 6-10 across the baseline.. and we get abused on the backside of the zone rebounding anyway staying with the bigs.

This is awesome on so many levels.

If my head stops spinning I may try to respond. Or maybe not.

How often was Paul Harris used at the three?
Paul Harris WAS a three. And he was a freakishly good rebounder for his size. He had absolutely no business playing the two, which is why he was always at the back of the zone. No one on our roster rebounds like Harris did, so if you're using this to say that one of our guards could slide down and play the wing of the zone, your point is invalid because Paul Harris 1) wasn't a guard and 2) was a phenomenal rebounder.

Let me remsummarize...
Actually looking at the stats kjo didn't do nearly as bad as I thought he did.
He actually had 6 boards but I couldn't remember one and only shot 5 shots making two and going three for three from the line.
I was wrong.

KJO is our perimeter forward though and would be the one being replaced at the three.
I think we would be more likely to go with CJ or Rak posting up at the four. Joseph hasn't done alot of that at syracuse.
