ACC Tournament Hopes

If he drops the program to new lows, then absolutely. Lacrosse is not my sport... but from the periphery, it sure seems closer to football with offensive and defensive specialists. Basketball--everyone is a midfielder.

Regardless, the assistants are assisting. You think JB was turning over the offense or defense to some assistant? JB is unique then. But do you think Izzo does that? Or that Coach K or Calhoun did that? We are going to such desperate depths to distance ourselves from the 2-3 zone that we have made ourselves unrecognizable in terms of performance and identity.

Everyone is falling all over themselves to say we need better talent. Why does that not apply to the last several years of the zone? The defense works. It just needs the right/better players.

What do you think assistants do? Sit around, pat people on the back and collect a paycheck? They also bear responsibility for this show.

We have a tie breaker with Cal. Hopefully the Cal/NC State buffer holds together. 7 wins and we should be in. Very sad I have to type that.

Correct, which is why I say if we lose at Pitt (likely) and lose against NC St at home, we could be in serious trouble because NC State would be only a game back and would own the tie breaker with us.

I agree with your prediction of two more wins. 7 total wins in conference has been my prediction for a while.

Calhoun, yes. Many times he would step back and let George Blaney draw up plays in huddles. Probably because they were the same age and had more of a partnership-type relationship.

If we beat NCSU and lose out, it will still be enough, as they would need to go 4-1 in remaining games to even have a chance.

If we lose to NCSU, we’ll likely need to get to 7. NCSU would then need 3 of the following.

Next game is big to stay out of the bottom 3...

NC State at home is our most winnable game left on the schedule and two of the bottom 3 just picked up a game on us (including them.) Plus we have the weekend bye this weekend.

NC ST has Stanford and BC has G-Tech on Saturday during our bye weekend.

More fascinating than possibly missing the ACC Tournament is the number of losses on the season. We currently have 16 which has only been matched or exceeded four other times. If we can manage to lose three of the next four and still qualify for the ACC Tournament this team has the chance to do something special. The first Syracuse 20 loss season since the 1960's. That could really fire the fanbase up for the 2025-26 season with Autry at the helm. It's funny and sad that our best case scenario for this season might be ending up 13-19. Oh Syracuse basketball where have you gone? #FireRed

BC up 47-35 over GT. Typical GT. Beat the really good teams but lose to the worst. ND up four to Pitt too. NCS 54- WF 52. Wake loses and they can kiss the tournament good bye.
