ACC Tournament Hopes

I kind of miss the days of hand ringing and bubble anxiety as the NCAA selection process unfolded. Critiquing the logic and questioning the bias of the committee was always fun. I always preferred human decisions vs the computer. It's tough to vent against a machine.

It was a gut wrenching time that we haven't been a part of for an eternity. I guess the positive is I can enjoy a round of golf without the distraction of wondering if we are going to be in or out. Baseball season is just around the corner.

I miss the days we were in the tournament at this point and not worrying about the bubble at all.

I thought we were in good shape a couple of weeks ago, now not so much. We better buckle up for doomsday.
At this point I don't care. I've got better things to do on Tuesday March 11 and hopefully missing the ACCT leads to Red's firing.

So is this finally the 3 bid ACC year?

I think we prob need to watch Call closely. If they keep losing we have the tie break over them and they might end up in the bottom.

NCS on a 13-0 run and are now up 69-61 over Wake. We are not beating the Wolfpack. They are everything we’re not.
They're everything we're not? Hopefully you're just being sarcastic. You must be with a team with 4 wins. In any event, we have them at home. This is our superbowl. Ha.

Well that's one way to look at it, can't blame ya. We will probably be disappointed on both.

I see Cal beating BC at home to get to 6

I don't see UVA winning again unless to SU

7 is 100% going to be a safe number. 6 is safe if win is over NCSU, and quite likely safe if over UVA.

5 is only (likely) safe if tiebreak is vs. Cal. But if Cal stays at 5, that means BC get to minimum 5, with a chance to get to 6 @ Pitt or @ Stanford.

The 3OT win saved our bacon.

If we don't make the ACC tournament the entire staff needs to be let go the next day.
Their is no way you can expect donors and season ticket holders to support giving a staff that can't even get in the conference tournament support.

The long term donors want Red to get a 3rd year.

Now maybe if we finish the season on a 7 game losing streak, they might be convinced to pull the plug immediately.

But all indications are right now that Red will be back.

Pretty wild that so many people are willing to throw good money at retaining such an abysmal staff. It's going to set us back even worse than we already have been.

Hopefully some adult in the room that sees the (financial) losses and can do math steps in.

If Red gets fired, Kiyan goes elsewhere, and Melo's NIL money walks out the door, are we better or worse off?

You really want a brand new coach to try to buy 10-12 players from the portal with whatever NIL money he can find in the sofa cushions?

If you want the 6 figure job with the company car and expense account, sometimes you have to date the boss' ugly daughter. Cause it beats working at Starbucks.

This is not a fact.

If your 100% confident that Red can get fired, and no other dominos will fall, I'm sure you'll sleep better tonight.

I am less than 50% confident that we can fire Red without some collateral damage.

We'll know in a few weeks.

Better off

Honestly, if we lose out, which is completely possible, we’ll miss the ACCT and put up 20 losses. I see no possible way the school can retain Red after a season like that. That’s worse than a bad season, that’s a catastrophic failure.

And for those wondering, Syracuse has only had one season in its entire history of basketball where we lost 20+ games. 1961-62 we went 2-22. And yes, the coach was fired.

Does “old” (read: long-term donor) money buy more, and carry more prestige, than “new” money?
