We're definitely in the rare air of Syracuse Basketball history right now. 3 straight perfect 13-0 OOC seasons. It's been a very nice ride.

Also, we have a 43 game OOC regular season win streak going. Not too shabby.

We're 56-1 in our last 57 OOC regular season games.

SUball

SU basketball has been a bright light shinning through the upstate NY clouds for a lot of years. Hope it continues into the ACC. :) Getting any sun in Seattle? Wow, you went from maybe the sunniest place in America to the cloudiest!

Yea but did we leave the state of new york for any of those games? And duke's OOC schedule is much tougher than ours so put an asterisk next to the 43 game winning streak. :D

it would be nice to have an undefeated dome record more than once in 35 years, though. In other words, we're all but guaranteed to lose at least one home game before the year is over. Other elite programs have more frequent wire-to-wire success defending their home court - see Pitt, Kansas, Duke to name a few off the top of my head...

I, for one, am happy with our team, our scheduling, and our record.

And we are a 70 foot shot away from doing it for four straight years.

Who let you out?

The obvious solution is to have a real student section like those programs do and a blue curtain to add the noise :D

Now that they've got the OOC season mastered, how about they start a streak of undefeated post seasons? I'd take three consecutive of those too :)

And, of course, Syracuse for two large swaths of the 1970s.

Or simply a lackadaisical effort - rather than an awful one - that would have made that 70-footer moot that night.

That's my favorite aspect of these last three teams. We've got leaders, guys who work hard and will us to wins (as ridiculously cliched as that sounds). The four teams that preceded this era (with apologies to the hard-working but undertalented 2007 team) did not. The effort we gave against Cleveland State would have lost us games against DePaul, William & Mary, and Marshall in these last three years.

We're fortunate to have this group in place.

Having a nice time. Wish you were, too. :(

True enough. It looked like we'd stolen a game where got outplayed with a mini-run at the end. Then they stole it back with the 70 footer. Still...

Those always kill me. Get outplayed by enough inferior teams and one of them is going to do something spectacular to win. We're bound to lose some games in which we pass up several opportunities to put the game away.

Kind of reminiscent of our football team.

Wow ... thinking back ... not 1 What loss in 3 years and since Cleveland State ... no matter what, that is impressive.

That Cleveland St. team was good and they won at least one game in the tournament that year. I remember going into the season thinking they were the best team we played OOC, better than either Kansas or Memphis. Cleveland St. definitely turned out better than Memphis did, Kansas was probably a little more successful than Cleveland St. but not by much. That was not a bad loss.

I think it is hilarious that, off the top of your head, two of the three teams you mentioned have already lost at home to mid major teams . . .

Kansas lost to Davidson in Kansas City at the Sprint Center.

Pitt hasn't recently. How many tough home games does Kansas or Duke play per year? Once we get to the ACC we should have much more success keeping our home court winning streak through conference play as well especially if we don't have both Duke and UNC in the dome in the same season.

No, they were good. They beat Wake (I picked that one) and someone else to go to the Sweet Sixteen (I think).

But we played really poorly that night and shouldn't have lost to them. That was a classic Syracuse "taking an unranked team too lightly and waiting until the ten-minute mark to start playing seriously" game.

Kansas has definitely benefitted from playing in a weak conference year in and year out.

With that said, the ACC isn't going to be down forever. Wake and Georrgia Tech are historically solid programs. NCSU and Umd will likely improve under their new coaches. UVa is ranked in one poll. Duke and UNC are who they are. The last time we beat Pittsburgh at home our last National Championship was one that baker awarded us retroactiuvely. I wouldn't count on us suddenly rattling off huge win streaks because we change conference.
