30 years today - Where were you?

It was a Saturday and we had celebrated my son's 7th birthday earlier with family & friends at my house in Jersey. By the time Pearl's shot went in all of our company had left and I was sitting on the edge of my couch trying to believe what i just saw through my boozey haze!

I thought it was on a weekday as well.

The Greg Monroe one against St John's 2/27/84. It was a high scoring game but Syracuse held the ball four-corners style at the end to ensure we had the last shot. They used to turn the shot clock off for the last 5 minutes of the game. SU had Pearl and Addison but it was little used frosh guard Monroe who won it. St. Johns had Mullen, Wennington, Sheldon Glass. It was also the last game we played against them at Alumni Hall.

it definetly was.

i remember now. my dad got tickets, had to call the school to get me, to tell me to go home and not go to basketball practice. i then had to run to the coaches class, inbetween periods to tell him i had a family emergency and couldnt make practice.

he said bullshit, so i told him the truth and he said enjoy it.

it was definetly a weeknight and im guessing a monday as it wouldve been the espn game and we played games on tuesdays and i didnt play because i missed the practice.

this is not the anniversary.

Bundle up.

This play brings back some great and bad memories. I gave myself a concussion after Cipolla made that shot. Jumped up so high I smashed my head on a low overhang molding type ceiling that we had in a house we rented right after I got married. Literally knocked myself out, woke up mid way through the OT, head bleeding like crazy lying on the floor. Total moron.

I was in the student section behind the basket. Pearl's shot against BC was coming right at me.
We went nuts!

I was across the Dome from you in the third level behind the basket. I remember Pearl running full gallop to the tunnel more than the shot actually going in. It was absolute lunacy in our section. I could barely see what was going on when he put the shot up.

When did they switch the benches to the opposite side of the court? Was it because TV wanted a better shot of JB's outfits?

Because us students used potty mouths towards the other team. :p
