50k in the dome next week

AD Coyle said he has spent many sleepless nights over the past two months trying to come up with ideas on how to get the fans back in the dome. How about starting a thread on this website with ideas and have one of the administrators submit the ideas to AD Coyle. Who better than the die hard fans on Syracuse.Com to assist the AD with this situation.
SU needs to get a train back...simple as that. Worst case work with the city and Armory merchants to get buses running from Armory.

SU needs to lease out and run better publicized Cash Lots within walking distance of the Dome.

The trolley company want bankrupt year ago, because it the students never used it during the week and it wasn't feasible to operate it only on game days.

The equipment was sold off, and the train station at Armory Square is now an office building.

You're kidding right? Last decade we had Greg Robinson for almost half of it and there were almost 15k more people at those games than there were yesterday.

In 1999 we lost to VA Tech 0-62. The next week's home game? We had 48k in attendance. Look it up.

Rutgers best record in its pathetic 125 yr history is 11-3 in 2006. Yet there SPRING GAME attendance could rival our home game attendances.

What else you got?
Those games didn't occur after 10-15 years of pathetic football. This malaise didn't come out of nowhere. It's a fan base that has been beat down for years and this is the result until we start winning

Did the railroad company go bankrupt in Cooperstown? Looks like it is still in business

This article has some good points...the comments are actually pretty good down below.

We won the pinstripe and Texas bowl and sucked beyond suck before that and then again last year. ...it's going to take time or one BIG year.

There have only been a million threads like that on here over the years.

One could argue that diehards are the worst people to ask for attendance improvement ideas, since they're the people who are going anyway.

In my experience doing research by asking people is often not a good way to figure things out, because people are unreliable actors in surveys. Ask a casual or lapsed fan what would cause them to go to the Dome and they'll give you a rationalized answer. But an answer that's probably not true.

Best approach, Ive found, is to examine actual behavior. Figure out what drives people to go to other similar events and mimic those drivers.

I think I saw its kids under 12 get in free day next week. That probably pushes us above 30k but not by much.

Win it, get what looks like a really good time slot against LSU (plus at least 5k LSU fans), and we'll see a minimum 45k and maybe up to 48k for that game.

If you look at the numbers I mentioned it's pretty easy to see that all those programs have performed at a higher to much higher level than us over the last 10 to 15 years which equates to better attendance. It's not earth shattering reasoning.

I don't think any gimmicks are going to work. TGD era has proven that. He threw everything but a good team/coaching staff out there and we saw and are still feeling the effects of this. Put out a decent team that is competitive and is entertaining and the fans will return.

the tv pics don't lie. so much silver in the stands. in both the hair and backrests. attendance is anemic at best.

i'm just a simple caveman and don't understand the complicated economics involved but how about giving tickets to some local high schools on friday and trying to get some money back on nacho and dome dog sales while putting a few more young fans in the seats ?

NCAA violation if we end up recruiting one of the kids we give a free ticket to. It's complicated.

And half the local HS play their own games on Fridays and Saturdays.

#1. the tickets go to the schools. they can decide how to dole them out.
#2. other half play friday nights (under the lights).
#3. players on the field don't care if the screaming fans in the stands bought a ticket or not.
and finally the empty stands we've witnessed the past two weekends sends a bad message all around. there is no good spin there.

The Mets have really picked up attendance this year and the Nats are dropping off...what's changed?

Clearly it's because the Mets are doing some whiz bang promotions while Washington DC is a horrible baseball town. Duhhhh.
