6 sweet 16s last 10 years

Umm... your facts are not in synch with the standard montra that college hoops has passed up our septagenarian HC, that he can no longer coach (in spite of the injuries, penalties and two walk-offs), and that he is using a gimmick defense.

Great stat! If only Gottlieb and Barkley could read...

I'm counting Kansas at 8.

The narrative some were trying to push all season was this would be the 3rd season out of 4 that we missed the dance and we got one lucky final four run in there because Michigan State got knocked off.

LOL! Guess that one blew up in their faces.

A fine line...

I really want to know which school has the most wins as a double digit seed in NCAA Tournament History. We have to be very close to that title if not owning it after the final four run 2 years ago and this run from first four to sweet 16.

1986 LSU won 4 games as an 11 seed they lost in the Final Four.
Then in 1987 as a 10 seed they won 3 games before choking in the last minute to Indiana in Cincinnati.

LSU has at least 7.

curious how many teams have more. im too lazy to look it up.
I put this up yesterday.
"If you base college basketball success on sweet sixteen appearances, we've been pretty good lately. We've been top sixteen 6 out of the last 10 years, and we weren't very competitive a couple of seasons from sanctions. This is the hierarchy: Kentucky and Duke (7 out of 10). Syracuse, UNC, Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan State and Arizona 6, Louisville 5, Gonzaga, Florida and Ohio St 4. All the rest - meh. BTW UConn is at 3 and Georgetown - ZERO."

Jimmy has perfected 2-3 zone defense and break out as a coach in recent years. That is why schools controlling NCAA, aka B1G, Kansas and Kentucky trying very hard to force JB to retire using their influence so they can continue dominating.

Couscuse is gonna be mad when he finds out you’re stealing his theories.

This is crazy. As recently as 2011 the Sweet 16 was the "round of death" for Jim Boeheim.
It kinda makes sense that it would be. Playing better teams with a week to prep

We are really tough in the NCAA weekend games (Round of 32, Elite Eight) because we play defense differently than everyone else and our opponent only has one day to prepare for us. We don’t have the same advantage in the Sweet Sixteen.

Yeah. And Except for Indiana, all the wins in the S16 going back to 1996 have been by a possession.

"The Orange are 7-1 as a double-digit seed in the NCAA tournament, the best such win percentage all time."

Per Jay Bilas' article on ESPN.
