...6'8" from Syracuse University... CARMELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

All Carmelo does is score! He couldn't even grab 20 rebounds out there? For all that money? Wilt used to get 25 rebounds per game!

He needs to show more leadership to make Hardaway and Prigioni make more shots! Those guys are ALL WORLD talents, they just need the leadership. Lebron would prod and cajole them to about 25 points per game, EACH.

Did I miss anything?

Shaq was clearly #1 on the 1st 3 Lakers ships don't see how that's even a question.

Westbrook is actually OKC's #1 because Durant is a baby and thinks he should shoot 30 FTs a game.

Pau is the only debatable one but I think we have to give him the benefit of the doubt because Kobe is a chucker.

What? You and Skip Bayless are the only people who think that about Durant and Westbrook.

Are you actually attempting to say Kobe is the #2 to Pau.

Melo goes 6-24 and he's a ballhog that needs to make his teammates better

Lebron goes 6-24 and he's a choker

Kobe goes 6-24 and gets NBA Finals MVP

You're one for three there.

Number 3 is just ridiculous. So ridiculous that it took my focus off how ridiculous #2 was.

he was

6-24 never forget

How many rebounds?

Finals MVP is for the whole series, not one game. If it was just on game 7, Artest would've got it.

If only Lebron could've shown the leadership to make Larry Hughes play like he did in Washington. You know, leadership! Like Aaron Craft! The TV broadcasts tell me he's the most wonderful human being alive and seeing him yell from the bench is such an awe-inspiring glimpse into his obviously amazing leadership. Carmelo needs to do that!

Kobe 28.6 ppg 8.0 rpg 3.9 ast 4.0 tov 40.5 FG%
Pau 18.6 ppg 11.6 rpg 3.7 ast 2.0 tov 47.8 FG%

oops

That's not exactly supporting your claim that Kobe shouldn't have won it. They both did what they were supposed to do and their team won. Kobe was deserving. That doesn't mean Pau was undeserving.

And the Lakers have won 2 titles with Kobe and Pau. Where are the 2009 Finals numbers?

Oops.

So your argument is based on opinion and words while mine is based on stats

It's ok let's turn this into a Kobe hate thread. Much more fun than a usual Carmelo thread. Everyone can join in!

Well, for one, I'm a Lakers fan so I probably watched 75% of those seasons(the other 25% it just got too late to stay up).

So it's based on watching the games from those seasons.

And those stats really don't support you. You're taking issue with a guy who averaged 29 points and 8 rebounds per game winning the finals MVP? Because his FG% was too low? If he shot 45%, would it have been ok? How many made baskets would it even take to get to 45% in a 7 game series?

And you seem to want no part of the 2009 Finals stats. Why? Pau was very good in that series too.

Pau is a hall of famer in my book. When your #2 guy is a hall of famer, you have a great thing going.

Scoring a lot of points on a lot of shots is not valuable.

Yes it is, when your team wins. And way to conveniently ignore the defense and rebounding.

And way to ignore the 2009 finals...for the 2nd time. You don't like Kobe, fine. Just don't be dumb though.

lol at "when your team wins"

don't you think that's being results oriented?

If Melo really wants another star to play with him, he'll need to show it when he signs his new deal this summer. If he goes for the full max then it's going to make things more difficult and would say, at least to me, that any talk from him about how winning a title is the most important thing is at least a little disingenuous. (You could also make this argument from when he was traded, as the Knicks would have been a lot better off if he had just signed with them as a free agent, but since there was all of the issues with the CBA going on, I would cut him a little slack. But the Knicks would probably have been better off if they just could've signed him as a FA, if nothing else Gallo/Chandler/Felton and the #1 pick could have been used as assets in another deal)

And if anyone cares about my opinion on the Kobe/Pau thing; Kobe was the Lakers #1 guy during their 2009 and 2010 title run. Though there was probably a pretty good argument for Pau winning the 2010 finals MVP, that wouldn't make Pau the #1 guy.

Starting to think there's no way we ever contend with Woodson as head coach. He has no idea what he's doing to start the season. Ridiculous rotations, lineups that make no sense.

Also Felton and Prigioni are not point guards on a contending team. Neither guy can guard anyone and it completely breaks down the defense every time.

I still think Prigioni needs to play more. The 2 PG lineups almost always do well.

People who get on Melo for not moving the ball need to watch the end of this game. He's making all the right passes and noone is stepping up.

I hope this Knicks season goes in the toilet. Easier for the Lakers to get Carmelo next year.
