69 to 7.....

Ever hear of a guy by the name of Hakim Warrick? Damone Brown? Demetris Nichols?
All guys needed time to improve, I’ll say it again: If he stays he can improve, but he isn’t playing like someone who deserves to get much playing time right now. Warrick and Nichols were both much better defensively by now btw.

I strongly disagree. The complaint is why isn’t he getting more time and my post was because he’s not good enough to. No profanity, no personal attacks just an observation supported by recent performance. Being a fan doesn’t mean you have blindly pretend like every player is freaking Melo, especially when people here constantly attack Jr, JG and Swider and not a single post gets removed.
No, you had some nonsense speculation in a different post.

We’ll see. Damone Brown and Kris Joseph did nothing as freshmen and then were big contributors as sophomores. Just a couple examples of athletic forwards coming on.

We’ll see what happens.
I know I replied to the other guy with the same message but my point is if he stays he can improve but if he transfers I’m not going to have a heart attack because he’s not the difference between a winning and losing team this year or next.

They made the sophomore leap and so can Williams.

My speculation was there’s probably something going on behind closed doors if he’s not playing in garbage time and my thought was maybe he told JB he wanted transfer. If that’s something that should be removed then we have entire threads that need to go down lol

You know I agree with your point. I remember Joseph being better as a freshman than you do, however.
I remember liking him but he wasn’t all that productive and I remember thinking he looked uncomfortable on the perimeter. That element of his game got a lot better.

Where did I say he can’t? I was saying that if he does it here, great! But if not syracuse can find someone that can contribute just as much through the portal.

If only Williams was on record about this very thing…

There’s something to be said for continuity, to an extent at least.

You can’t just have a whole new team every year. You need at least some program guys who know the ropes.

You said it would take him a couple of years. You said he won’t make an impact as a sophomore. That means you don’t think he’ll contribute until he’s at least a junior.

No, I said I don’t think he’s the difference between a winning and losing team next year, which is entirely fair. He came in with 5 star expectations, which meant he was expected to come in and contribute right away, he hasn’t done that. If he came where he should’ve been like a high 3/low 4 star guy then a sophomore year of like 8 and 4 would be viewed as really good. Looking at his offensive game today, he probably needs an overhaul of his shot and that could take a couple years, doesn’t mean he can’t learn to be a slasher next year though and contribute.

That’s certainly true, but depending on who leaves at the end of the year (Jimmy, buddy, swider), it is likely next year is just as much of a rebuilding year as this one.

I understand that, and I’ve supported what he has said, but the end of the year is very different than the middle, especially when your minutes continue to decline and you have 2 other similar caliber players coming in behind you with what appear to be more polished offensive games.

We’ll see.

If Benny can make a sophomore leap and Symir can keep getting better and earn the starting PG spot, suddenly we’ll probably be good enough defensively to win games. Jesse will be a monster. Joe at the two can light it up.

I did answer, my post got deleted. I said Benny can improve if he stays I just doubt he’ll stick around cuse to do it. Right now a transfer could come in and offer just as much as he has. He doesn’t look like a 5 star prospect, more like a 3 star which means he needs a couple years to learn and improve.
Ahem.

His interview, which is only two weeks old, completely contradicts your speculation.

I feel bad for Benny. I don't think he is as good as we thought he would be but he is not as bad as he is playing. All season he has had the quick hook if he does anything wrong. It's hard to improve and have any confidence when you get pulled so quickly. He gets blamed in post game press conferences and his coach speculates on if he might transfer after the season. What freaking coach does that in the middle of the season on his radio show to his only 5 star player on the team??? I guess a coach who might need a schp or two to open up for one of his sons or both to return next year. Ask yourself when an SU vs Duke game has ever been at noon on a Sat? I guess it is the exact spot this program deserves. This is what happens when you base your team on your sons stats and trying to get them both to the next level when in all reality one wouldn't even start on great SU teams like 2009 or in that era and the other would get walk on minutes. Nothing against the kids they seem like great kids and try hard but the athleticism is not there. Coach put this team together and is 100% responsible for this team/family disaster. Let's hope the AD steps up and ends this but I'm not optimistic. If they run it back next year it's more of the same and let's not kid ourselves about adding a great transfer. Who would come play for this coach? Maybe 10 or 15 years ago but not today.

Boeheim brother minutes v Bennie minutes.

Can anybody please explain this to me in a game like this ??????

It’s so frustrating to see these posts over and over. Just step back and look at it without the lens of your hatred for the Boeheim family. Buddy and Jimmy are far better basketball players in every single facet than Benny is. For all the grief you people dole out about substitution decisions, you are now arguing that demonstrably bad players be force fed minutes. You’re arguing for the very thing you claim to be against. You think the coach only gives minutes to Buddy and Jimmy because of their last name, but you want to limit their minutes based only on their last name.

To the point previously made, it doesn’t even matter.

We aren’t winning with him playing big minutes. We aren’t winning without him playing big minutes.

If we are playing for future years, I would agree - play him more. But Boeheim has never done that because he has never had a team this terrible before.

Well the game was over with plenty of game left. I see no reason why either should have been on the floor to end that game. What purpose? Literally none.

No. People want their (mainly Jimmy) minutes limited because their ceiling is leading us to a 9-10 record. This season is shot. Benny is the future. Try to bring him along a bit, maybe?

Buddy got all kinds of minutes he wasn’t earning early in his freshman year - and guess what? I was fine with it. Because we needed shooting and needed him to come on. And eventually he did.

Also, he’s not a 35-40 mpg guy. Cap him at 30, play Joe at the 2 more, and play Torrence more.

If this waa family feud you just hit the number one answer.

A very small percentage of Syracuse fans dislike JB personally.
It’s a frustration for things you say.

Our players are good kids. JB has built a flawed roster that he chose to do. Players who aren’t superstars are asked to play superstar minutes.

If the bench cant help that is the result of poor recruiting or poor player development both of which are the responsibilities of the coaching staff. Of which the HC is mainly responsible.

Good post. If we were winning and relevant nationally during the regular season the temperature would be a lot cooler. We aren’t and a 8th consecutive bubblish season is seeing frustration levels rise.

Again, we seem to have different memories of someone’s freshman season.

And this season isn’t shot.

You don’t think Buddy and Cole didn’t come into the year with expectations? If you’re going to blame Benny on this team then shame on you. Blame it on the two seniors not on a freshman.
