8/11/15 Practice # 3

I know everyone loves Erv, but hearing that Estime is healthy gives me a lot more hope for this season. I think he's the biggest home-run threat on the roster, and along with Ishmael, can keep teams from loading the box.

Agreed. I think people tend to forget that high ankle sprains linger with you for a long time, unless sufficient rest is given.

He originally sprained the ankle in early August last year. I give him credit for trying to push through, but in reality it probably would have been best to have him sit out for the first 2-3 weeks of the season, rather than just the opener, in order for him to be fully recovered and healthy.

Between him, a bulked up Phillips and a year of maturity and understanding what college football is all about from Ishmael, those are three legitimate weapons that Hunt & Lester have at their disposal.

In fact, I might say that those are three of the more dynamic skill position guys that we have had together in the last decade. And they all are here for another two seasons together.

I'm also bullish on McFarlane & excited about Cornelius finally getting a fair shot at extended PT. Add to that Ben Lewis, who seems to get open a lot, and the size/speed combo of Anoicy/Custis, the future looks pretty bright.

The key is getting the offensive line healthy, on the same page and functional this year. I think Hunt is primed to have a pretty good year if the OL stays in tact.

We need all the explosive playmakers we can get. Having a healthy Estime, Irv, AND Ishmael gives Hunt a lot to work with [and a lot more than we've had the previous two years]. Looking forward to players like Neal, Washington, etc. adding to the stable of weapons.

That has been one of the things that has separated us from peer caliber programs of late. We just haven't had guys that opposing DCs had to worry about / game plan for. That's beginning to change.
