8/11/15 Practice # 3

Agreed- I dont know what to think about a lot of this. There was supposed to be a big upside with McGlouster, Lasker and Ward. I dont know if this speaks more to that we have a better OL than we thought or the lack of development of players or more likely a little of both.

If we can limit injuries and keep a cohesive group, and maybe use at least 3 cadences, then maybe the Oline we have will be better off

I think it speaks to the fact that we have 3 seniors and a junior starting on the OL and only one spot open with a front runner. He/They will have their opportunities as RS Sophomores next year.

Syracuse DL coach Tim Daoust said his 7 freshmen are all improving early in camp. "I’m not ready to fire or hire any of them right now."

Tim Daoust said he's excited about 300+ pound freshman DT Steven Clark. Still adjusting to playing heavier, but has excellent strength.

Tim Daoust noted DEs Amir Ealey and Qaadir Sheppard as quick-twitch guys while 6-6 Jake Pickard has unteachable length, but less speed.

One more from Tim Daoust on Fr. DE Kenny Carter: "The upside on him is tremendous. We just have to have some patience and watch him grow."

Tim Daoust didn't appear worried about John Raymon's UBI. Said his strength, shape is excellent. "I hope to God you see that."

Tim Daoust said a healthy Brisly Estime should be the guy at punt return for Syracuse. Not opposed to using 2 players, but not a necessity.

Syracuse OC Tim Lester said he's been happy early on with freshman QBs Eric Dungey and Kenterius Womack. Emphasizing footwork.

Tim Lester has been watching Kenterius Womack throw for the first time. Said he rushes a bit. Easy to see him turning double plays from SS.

Syracuse OC Tim Lester echoed others in saying Brisly Estime looks in top shape. Competing with Alvin Cornelius for a starting spot.

The most pleasant surprise for Tim Lester thus far? Freshman OL Cody Conway. Working with 2nd team due to limited participation of vets.

Lester said Cody Conway has been matching up against DE Ron Thompson in practice. Loses often, but "it’s surprising when anyone blocks Ron."

Senior tackle Michael Lasker (shoulder) is still working his way back.

FWIW: I still wouldn't expect Conway to play barring significant injuries.

QB Terrel Hunt sees confidence, in addition to health, in WR Brisly Estime. Moving from h-back has helped him find an identity, Hunt said.

QB Terrel Hunt said C Rob Trudo's snapping has been solid. He's also emerged as a leader on the offensive line.

Asked Terrel Hunt if there was anything the offense wanted to show at the Fan Fest scrimmage on Saturday. "Nope." Expect spring game plays.

WR Steve Ishmael is matching up against CB Julian Whigham in 1-on-1s during practice. Likely says something about CB battle.

Am I the only one who has notice number 79 Hindy? working with the DLine

Silly question, but why is it Cuse Camp with a hashtag if we have no access to tweet about anything?

I know everyone loves Erv, but hearing that Estime is healthy gives me a lot more hope for this season. I think he's the biggest home-run threat on the roster, and along with Ishmael, can keep teams from loading the box.

I'm confused by your question... but for me that is a natural state. ;)

Syracuse FB is tweeting out all these stories.

In theory, a hashtag is a collecting point. It's a way to organize the tweets everyone has while collectively watching a game, for example. A hashtag for camp, where only Cuse football has the ability to tweet about it, is a moot point.

OK. My guess is that it may be something they hope the "Twitter Army" picks up on and uses. You never know what those crazies will do. ;)

Not really. Everyone has the ability to talk about camp on Twitter. There's enough access and information to talk a bit. Everyone wishes there was more access and info - but it is what it is...

I think that's a silly stretch on the part of SUA. But it is what it is.
