Practice starts at 10:00 and the first 20 minutes is open to the media. Interviews with coordinators and players following practice. This afternoon/evening the team should be heading up to Fort Drum.

But Bailey said it was a serious injury!

Heard CB Julian Whigham walked off the field under his own power with an ice pack on his right knee. Likely won't get an update til Monday.

The top nugget from the open portion of today's Syracuse practice was a good one. Senior CB Julian Whigham (LBI) participated fully.

DTs John Raymon (UBI) and Kayton Samuels (LBI) were limited. They worked individually for the first 20 minutes.

WR Alvin Cornelius (LBI) and hybrid Dontae Strickland (LBI) also appeared to be full-go. Both didn't play at FanFest.

Punt returners worked on retreating. Lots of drops, including from Ishmael and Strickland. SU ran a fake field-goal w/ Riley Dixon.

Julian Whigham, Alvin Cornelius and Dontae Strickland all were back practicing full today.

John Raymon and Kayton Samuels were limited. Ron Thompson did not work out.

AJ long also remained limited. Didn't see him hold a ball. Denzel Ward was held out again.

Fan Fest star Jacob Hill got a shot at returning punts. It went poorly. Dropped two. Strickland, Ishmael muffed one each.

Coaches upped degree of difficulty on punt returns today. Had players chasing them down from angles.

Oh man. CB Julian Whigham makes a great play to break up a pass but looks seriously injured.

Ugh, can they stop with this fake field goal nonsense? Just line up with your offense and go for it (like you are supposed to anyway). Put the ball in the hands of a playmaker, not your punter. I am not sure I like anything about the way Shafer thinks. :(

I don't understand why you wouldn't necessarily want this? Not to mention he's been pretty successful with Special Teams trickery in general over the past two years.

It's a wrinkle, not the norm. What's wrong with having it in the arsenal?

I think it's a waste of time. Spend that time working on an offensive play that can be run on fourth down.

By definition a punter who throws a TD to win a game is a "playmaker"...

This is really just my frustration over Shafer's unwillingness to go for it on 4th down. It's too risky to line up with your offense and attempt to gain short yardage, but instead you resort to trickery where your punter becomes the playmaker. I hate everything about that approach.
