What's Dungey's QBR after Saturday? They might be taking this explosive plays thing too far. This kind of discrepancy is crazy.

His yards per completion avg has to be up there nationally as well.
National average on third down is somewhere around 40 percent. Even last year we were at 34% during one of the worst offensive years in college football history. 39% in 2013, 49% (!) in 2012, 43% in 2011, 38% in 2010.
We are currently converting at an 36% clip but 11% over the last 2 games. That should go up and our production should too. Which should be quite encouraging.

regarding third downsHow about Baylor?
796 yds passing, 712 yds rushing!, in TWO GAMES! 9.25 yds per play and they are running 80+ plays a game.
That is nuts, but enough of that.
I love what Lester is doing, a lot of misdirection, multiple concepts, tight rotations at the skill positions, some packaged plays. Everyone is a receiver, everyone can be a running back. Pass game has both vertical and horizontal concepts, really attacking all areas of the field.
Would love to see Dungey run the Marrone/Hackett 4 option play, in particular in the red zone, when Parris gets back. You could also switch it up and run it with Custis.
This offense is generating chunk plays, which is awesome, but part of the reason they are running so few is they can't convert third downs. 2 of 17 the last two games. As much as you don't think it's important, you aren't going to beat the better teams on the schedule like that.
Not that the yds per play would hold but if they could get to 75 plays a game, which is normal, and did have the same yds per play they would be at 478 yds per game, which would be good for top 35.
regarding third downs
we are at 42% when dungey throws, which is fine. i'm not too worried about
dungey had a 3rd and 9, 3rd and 3 (juggled i think right below us). he was 0-2 but who is complaining.
after that, the offense was terrible on every down. couple 3rd and 3 runs to start the 2nd half going nowhere - horrible blocking the second half
3rd and 29 in there
3rd and 10 where picked up nine and punted like morons.
then a key 3rd and 5 in overtime.
our running game really drops off in the second half
i think we have real offensive line problems though. qbs and rbs are talented enough to get big plays when they're there, but i'm concerned about blockersRunning game dropped off in 2nd half due to having no QB (I would think). Looking through the play by play, didn't seem like the running game was horrible in the 2nd half vs. Wake. And URI you can throw out basically.
If we have to pass to set up the run, we're like 90% of the other teams in D1. Nothing wrong with that at all.
