This guy obviously knows I love football and Syracuse basketball. The first thing he said was " "What hell is with those uniforms?" who is getting paid off from Nike to put that crap n the team.Where are the orange pants and solid orange helmets. Grey? Really? Why? This is a guy who is familiar with the programs because as good friends I drove up from NJ to Syracuse a few times wives included.

The uniforms are hideous.

Whoever designed them must hate football, or Syracuse, or both.

I think this is a generation thing. College football is no longer solid colored helmets, jerseys and pants. There might be a few teams that don't change their look but even Notre Dame has tweaked it's uniform. Did anybody see their golden cleats that look like boxing boots?
I for one thought those uniforms looked awesome!

Hmm... my reply disappeared.

I stand by my opinion, OrangeAl.

My wife thought they looked like they were playing in sweat pants, especially with the blue undershirts.

Did Nike even do anything different from the WVU jersey except changing yellow to orange around the blue numerals, 44 axe on the front and put the 44 degree blue on the wide instead of the yellow WV.

That's the thing. We think we are doing something "different" because it contrasts our traditional uniforms. But if you look at how NIKE is outfitting other schools, there's a actually a sameness to them. Those are NIKE's uniforms, not Syracuse's or West Virginia's. What they are doing is advertising NIKE. That's the brand, not Syracuse.

I loved the unis. Platinum looked great.

Another point: If the uniforms help recruiting, how do they help recruiting if everybody is doing this? When Oregon did this, it was different. Now we are just joining the herd.

Like the dopey basketball uniforms that we've been wearing since 2008 with very few tweaks. Ohio State = Syracuse = Florida.

It's all about Nike building its own brand.

I loved the helmets - I'll just leave it at that.

One thing that I think we all can agree on is that nothing was (or ever will be) worse than these...

The whites blew the grays out of the water. The gray itself doesn't look bad, but since the jersey had zero orange to it, the orange helmet just looked atrocious with it IMO.

The vast majority of the public was laughing at how awful our uniforms looked. If we had worn the blue helmets, it could work, though the gray and blue is just kind of dreary to me.

I still have no idea how we had three new uniforms made and none of them are orange, especially in today's landscape where outside of the gray, everyone is making bright colored jerseys. I think it was a seriously missed opportunity to bring orange back to Syracuse. A white helmet, orange top, white pants look could be amazing if designed the right way.

My 16 year old daughter took one look at them, said, "What are they wearing? That's disgusting." Now obviously, not a HS football player, but she is definitely all high schooler...
