A ing time east coast friend called about the game and uniforms

This guy obviously knows I love football and Syracuse basketball. The first thing he said was " "What hell is with those uniforms?" who is getting paid off from Nike to put that crap n the team.Where are the orange pants and solid orange helmets. Grey? Really? Why? This is a guy who is familiar with the programs because as good friends I drove up from NJ to Syracuse a few times wives included.
I loved the unis. I was in Vegas this weekend with 5 buddies from all over (and in the 35-45 age group), and they all said they looked great. It's a new era, where teams want to put a different spins on their uniforms. I'm all for it. And the Orange helmets are the best ever, not even a debate. The product on the field is where I was turned off...

So, your point is that they could be worse?

In less than 10 years we'll be saying the same thing about ours as those schools think about those jerseys.

To me the all white uniforms looked really sharp. I don't care much for the blue or the gray uniforms. I could live with an orange jersey and helmet with white pants, Or the more traditional orange helmet, blue jersey, orange pants.

The grays are fine as a third alternate uniform. We should have an orange jersey and orange pants though, and we should regularly wear the orange helmet, white or blue jersey, and orange pants - which are our historical colors. I'm fine with the new designs but I prefer seeing the historical colors in the proper scheme the majority of the time and then having third or fourth alternate uniforms that can be a little "out there".

As far as color schemes the majority of the times. We can use chrome or dayglo or electrified orange helmets for all I care. Just stick with the our historical color schemes the majority of the time. That's not too much to ask for.

hopefully this week we break out a new combo. White pants, blue top and orange helmet with everyone wearing orange cleats?

I loved the helmets...I thought Platinum was ok...at least you could read the numbers (unlike the Blue ones).

Sorry its a debate. I know a ton of young fans who hate the new unis. All under 40 so its not a geezer reaction. One said" I only hate the uniforms from the neck down".

Good call to bring the wives.

I am in college and all the kids my age thought they were sick. I thought they looked awesome also.

For us old folks, sick is a compliment, correct? :)

Unique:
adjective
1. existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary intype or characteristics:
2. having no like or equal; unparalleled; incomparable:

I'm all for new looks but we are doing nothing unique. The only part of the new uniforms I like are the crossed 44 on the front. Also I know a lot of people like the platinum look but IMO they look dull. Maybe use the platinum as an accent?

Love them or hate them, this is a new era of uniforms. Better learn to at least tolerate them or you're going to stay disappointed.

I do think they needed orange accessories (cleats/undershirts). Seemed off, when wearing the orange helmet. I'm wondering if we even received orange cleats this year.

My lady friend did mention that the greys are very unflattering to sweat spots.

I so agree with this...And I find it appalling really that the AD is letting Nike slowly destroy our identity...It just needs to stop.

Sorry Mark, can't go along with this...The platinum was awful and the helmets are the wrong shade of orange...If they want a metallic look, at least use the correct color!

My 16 year old daughter took one look at them, said, "What are they wearing? That's disgusting." Now obviously, not a HS football player, but she is definitely all high schooler...
My 17 year old son who does play high school football took one look at them and said, "Wow! Those are tight!" Pretty sure he wasn't talking about the fit and he said it in a positive way. Myself I liked them. I like the all white better and am not a fan of the blues though I likely would be if the #'s were outlined in white or orange. Didn't like the white helmet with the blues.

Another point: If the uniforms help recruiting, how do they help recruiting if everybody is doing this? When Oregon did this, it was different. Now we are just joining the herd.
In the world of recruiting "joining the herd" may not be a bad thing. You gotta keep up before you can catch up.

People who think these Nike uniforms today are cool = the people in the 1970s that thought Boeheim looked stylish here.

That's very early on. I think that's Cliff Warwell who beat Louisville with a specactular lay-up in JB"s first game but left the team not long afterwards. That's Pitino to JB's right. Mark Meadors is to his left and I think that's a very young Bernie Fine with a fine crop of hair over Mark's shoulder. This is probably late 1976.
