Hard to say. He did have Ash before anyone else if you are referring to Durkin.Hmmmm I do not think that is correct
LOL Ash declined okay. Yeah okay. Not directed you just that tweet. This guy says three candidates were offered the job and all three declined. I don't know what to believe anymore!!

Crusty said:I actually believe it. We know about Frost and Ash was involved with Rutgers and Durkin with Maryland. B1G guys are going to want to stay in the B1G. I really could care less if we get Dino. I don't think Mizzou wants him. Setting up perfectly for us.

I don't know about that, but I can see them turning us down for B1G job interest. The only question really may be when did they do it (if they did). They will bill it as turning down an offer when they really turned down an expression of interest before a formal offer sheet was on the table. So you think we made actual offers to ash and durkin?
I would guess the reason would be what Rocco suggested...We probably told him we had a couple guys we wanted to interview still that were higher on our list...Ash probably didn't like that and removed his name...I don't see Ash getting another P5 job this yearAsh removing his name is a clue to this search IMO. The only reason I can think of is that Syracuse told him they were going in a different direction. Why the heck else would a coordinator desperate to be a HC remove his name from a power 5 job?
I think the Rutgers search firm might have blown smoke up his butt and he thought it was a great chance to be HC in the B1G.Ash removing his name is a clue to this search IMO. If he had other interest it would be stupid to remove your name as you have more negotiating power when you have multiple parties interestedI don't know about that, but I can see them turning us down for B1G job interest. Is the next man 4th choice? Could be, but that can happen to anybody but a few programs in this environment.
Even if the above is true they didn't turn us down out-of-hand. IMO means little. Would only be a problem if they turned down the money amount.

These things are hard to know unless you were in the room. For all we know, Frost said thanks but no thanks I am going to UCF and it was not Coyle who played the last card at all. This has to be completely false. Frost was offered a contract, rebuttled and Coyle said " No" to the limited buyout covenants.
I don't think we officially offered Ash or he would've accepted on the spot and not even sure we spoke to Durkin at all.
IMO, Coyle told Ash he liked him but wanted to interview higher guys on his board first. Ash got offended and pulled his name out.
That is the scenario I want to believe.Moontan's interpretation of this week's events surrounding the hiring of FHCSS' replacement:
- Anyone other than Frost who is not the head coach in a conference championship game did not get an offer from SU.
- Those others who were interviewed are backups in case weekend negotiations with Babers, Montgomery, Brohme, etc. fall through.
These things are hard to know unless you were in the room. For all we know, Frost said thanks but no thanks I am going to UCF and it was not Coyle who played the last card at all.
Probably didn't get to a formal offer sheet with the other two, but the terms could have been in the process of being formulated. Just hard to know.
Not necessarily. Sometimes it makes you rethink and realize that you really want to stay in the B1G etc.If he had other interest it would be stupid to remove your name as you have more negotiating power when you have multiple parties interested
Sure, but isn't that the way SU would spin it and your source wouldn't know. You are right, but I trust what I've heard in regards to these situations, especially Frost.
