The two Syracuse/dook games were great. Probably the two best this year in college basketball. But true rivalry transcends two talented teams playing. Syracuse and dook have only played six times total with three wins each. Syracuse has actuallly played UNC more <8>. The history with dook and Carolina is just to deep to be replaced. There are moments on each side that still cause emotions to boil when game day is on. February 8, 2012, hurt like hell until February 20, 2014, which is one of the foundations for the court stroming. In 1995 Capel hit a 3/4 court shot to send game to double OT before heavily favored UNC was able to pull of the win in Cameron. There is a famous brawl in 1961 that many still jest about. And the greatest comeback in histsory 8 points in 17 seconds in Chapel Hill, March 2, 1974, may never be duplicated. There is also an inside reference amongst students for the acronym GTHC and it is rule 9F. This hatred just can't be spontaneously generated in two games. Living eight miles apart you can't get away from it. And not that either of us really want to. GO HEELS!!
