Did anyone think Grant would be this good when we recruited him? I didn't. I thought he would be a really good 4 year program guy. Boy was I wrong. And happily so.

No I did not. But with his pedigree, the sky is the limit. He has All American written all over him.

I wasn't excited about him until the Notre Dame game. His size at the position is what worried me the most.

Probably the only time I've ever been wrong. :p

don't know that I paid a lot of attention when we signed him. To me, his upside looked very high when I first saw him play. His length, hops, handle and a nice stroke were evident.

BJ Johnson will be the next guy to surprise folks here.

Personally I thought that Grant's development would be the difference between this team becoming elite or just very good. Our opponents have a real matchup problem covering both CJ and Grant. Most teams have one defensive stopper not 2 who can cover their athleticism and length. It has to be a nightmare for opponents to scheme for both CJ and Grant being consistent offensive threats.

Grant started getting alot of attention towards the latter part ofhis senior yr in HS, mostly because bof his upside and athleticism of course. This tournament, he wasnt as hesitant when and made his move from the high post much quicker. No one is college will be able to guard his first step and quickness...its a thing of beauty. That 15 footer drops all season. ..we're a final four team again in my eyes

Nevermind the mid range jumpers, I have been most impressed with his ability to iso, drive and convert. If he can keep that up, the offense will be elite.

I thought he would be very good for us by the time he was a junior. I imagined him as an excellent rebounder/defender and a good slasher. I had no idea he would have such an impact so early nor that he would have one of the quickest first steps I've seen in the college game at his size.

I never underestimate JB's choices for guard and forward positions. He sees the talent very early on, and he knows what will be successful in SU's system. Centers, not so much...

Am I off-base when I say he has Wiggins-like leaping ability? That tip in follow off his own jump shot in the lane was more subtle than the putback dunk the night before, but every bit as remarkable athletically.

I liked the Bilas comment after one of his putback dunks in the Cal game...

"I am surprised that he didn't burn up on re-entry"...says it all.
