So here is an excerpt from an article on the BE blog today regarding ticket sales for the BE's upcoming bowl games:

Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights have passed the 10,000 ticket mark and counting for their game against Iowa State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30 at Yankee Stadium. If you need to be reminded, Syracuse sold around 8,000 tickets for its Pinstripe Bowl appearance last year. Who is New York's team again?
Is she seriously that idiotic? I forgot that the only possible way to get tickets to the game is through SU. I certainly didn't get mine through them. In addition, there had to be a good 20-25k SU fans there last year. Just because SU "only" sold 8k and NJU has sold 10k "and counting", means that NJU is New York's College Team. I forgot.

I love the hatred geared towards SU by ESPN, especially AA. She is pissed that her job is that much more irrelevant with the departure of SU, Pitt and WVU.

If you read the user comments, several fan bases are telling her how wrong the information is.

Also, ESPN does not hate Syracuse University. Andrea Adelson does not hate Syracuse University. Just because there is unflattering information published about SU does not mean there is some kind of anti-Orange bias. It's just unflattering information.

She is just dumb. I bought 6 and not through SU. If people remember last year the ND fans had to buy tix to the the bowl game to get tix to their game vs Army(?) at Yankee stadium. It was a package deal and the ND fans were dropping their bowl tix like crazy for better and cheaper seats than SU had.

Exactly. I don't know many students that bought them through SU. either. I got mine on Stubhub for half of face value the day before the game. I sat in what was supposed to be the Kansas St. section, and it was at least half orange.

Rutgirls is subsidizing tickets big time...u can buy them for $30...if u aren't the lucky 40% getting them free

Nails are you from Corning? Wood house is a solid watering hole

There are a ton of RU fans that aren't buying their tickets through Rutgers as well(I bought eight off of Stub Hub).

So to be over 10,000 in sales through Rutgers, and counting, with a few weeks to go before our game is pretty good. It appears our sales are going quite well and its only been one missed year since our last bowl...

It will be interesting to see how you guys fill the place up. Last year, it was mostly Orange with some purple along the first base line. We had the rest of it.

I'm sure there will be a sea of red there. Just like there was a sea of orange last year.

Cheers,
Neil

You guys really brought droves and droves to Yankee Stadium this year against Army. Remind me what the attendance was? You are legends in your own minds.

And how do you have a few weeks until your game? By my math, it's next week. Good luck going forward in that new league your in. Sounds like with the issues that your athletic dept finds itself in, your squad may have to bus it to San Diego and Boise State. That stadium expansion was an epic disaster.

pre acc invite this might have gotten my attention - now couldnt give a

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is the difference in weather between last year and this year...there was a blizzard leading up to the game last year and there has barely been any snow this year lol the fair weather fans will certainly want go, pun intended.

Maybe my initial post was a little ill-willed towards ESPN, but I can't help it. I just can't stand when people say stupid ass about Rutgers being NY's College Team. If Yankee Stadium was located in Rochester (equivalent of Yankee Stadium to Rutgers), we would've had 40-50k in the stands. Congrats to Rutgers if they are selling more tix through the school than SU, but let's put things into perspective.

and you will have less in the seats than su did even tho we had a pre bowl blizzard.

Take a look at my avatar. I took that pic on the Pinstripe sidelines, so you know how lovely the weather was last year.

This is silly, the weather the day of our game last year was beautiful for late December. It was in the upper 40s 'til the sun set in the 2nd half, with very little wind. Meanwhile in the tri-state area the snow fell 3 days before the game, so it's not like people were risking life and limb to get to the stadium.

SU had about 20-25K fans there, which is right around our max for NYC football. We had similar crowds for the times we played at the Kickoff Classic. I suspect Rutgers will bring a similar amount.

I hope they sell more. They can drive there and drive back. NYC is like 250 miles from Syracuse.

Yankee Stadium is a short drive away for Snooki State.

Exactly, which is why I used Rochester in my post before. If we played in a bowl game in Roch, we would have more fans, too. The drive to Roch from Syracuse is equivalent to the drive from Rutgers to Yank Stadium.

OK, but you get the point. It wasn't some bone-chilling, tundra-freezing day that had to be endured. And snow on the ground is not exactly a hardship, it didn't impede anyone's travel that day (or the 2 days before it).

I know everyone feels obligated to pile on the Rutgers hate here, but it's really silly in this case. They damn well better have at least as many scarlet-wearing butts in the Yankee Stadium seats as we did. Really should have more, of course.

Although, roads were still closed in many places in the tri-state area, and many people without power. Just sayin'...

OK, I'll take your word for it. We got over a foot in SW CT and there was no power outages or road closures 3 days later.

You forget that NYC's for brains mayor didn't have anything plowed, getting around or into NYC was a disaster even then.

And for risking life and limb, you obviously weren't in the cab that I was in...
