The ACC is the only conference in the country to play on five consecutive days in the first week of the 2018 season. Wake Forest kicks off the league's schedule with a Thursday night game at Tulane. On Friday, Duke plays host to Army, while Syracuse travels to Western Michigan. Saturday's slate includes eight ACC teams in action, including a prime time matchup between Louisville and preseason No. 1 Alabama. No. 8 Miami faces No. 25 LSU in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday evening. College football's opening weekend concludes with a top 20 ACC matchup between No. 19 Florida State and No. 20 Virginia Tech in Tallahassee, Florida.

More likely upset:

A) Tulane over Wake (true freshman vs modern option O)
B) UMASS over BC (UMASS puts up points vs reading too many press clippings)
C) Richmond over Virginia (Spiders are in their heads after loss last year - sorry Hoo's That )
D) Not including our game bad ju-ju

UNC-Cal and Miami-LSU are the big games for the conference.
We need to take care of business on the road as well.

If Miami can take care of LSU then the coastal will have an elite team.

UMASS will give BC a problem. I think their a live dog. BC's heads are a bit puffed up right now with all their preseason buzz and UMASS has a game under their belt.

Umass can score and this one will be a good one. BC in the trenches should dominate UMASS but Umass is building something in Amherst right now.

That is why I got interested in UMASS, I like watching somebody build something and how they go about doing it. In this game UMASS needs to get up early to neutralize BC's ball control offense. BC people have this chaulked up as an easy win, could be a good game.

I got Tulane over Wake. Tulane is going to be very good this year.

I heard yesterday that the Furman QB is a student at Clemson. Not sure how that works.

It's a 3-2 engineering program. A number of small universities don't have engineering majors so they have programs that allow students to spend the first three years at their school (Furman) in a pre-engineering program and spend the last two at another school with an engineering program (Clemson).

EDIT: forgot to add that the NCAA has a provision that allows students to maintain their eligibility with their "home" university.

Yeah UMass is good they just don't win shame they haven't pulled off any of those SEC upset bids where they lost to UF or UT by a few points. Glad we're scheduling Liberty over them next few years for our easier FCS games. NC State always seems to lay an egg early wouldn't be shocked if JMU kept it close late. With you on the other possible upsets.

Our game vs UNC scares me actually. Crossover game at home against maybe the worst team in the ACC to me that is this years MTSU game. I kind of think they upset Cal Fedora is a good coach I don't think they are going away forever the QB who is suspended sucks and is no loss.

UNC vs Cuse should be something like 77-70. A huge stats game.

I think our defense shows out all year in the dome this year. We leave our first four games 3-1 and attendance will improve

I think UNC is hugely under rated this season. I've got that as a loss when we play them.

Some of the upset picks are interesting. BC and Wake are supposed to have good seasons, BC as high as #2 in the conference and you guys have them losing to UMass and Tulane. If that's the case you have to pencil them in as CUSE W's there to I would think.

I do believe Clemson might get beat in BC this season. November roadie if I'm not mistaken.

I think the D will be good, just
UNC is a lot like SU and I think that game will be all offense.

I just think it's:

1. Clemson

2. FSU (talent can overcome more of their deficiencies)
3. Everyone else has weaknesses that can be exploited and enough strengths to finish as high as 3

I know this isn't an ACC game, but my lock of opening weekend is Oklahoma -21 at home vs Florida Atlantic.

I like Alabama-24.5 against Louisville.

The Cardinals have a complete rebuild and the Bama defense/special teams will be good for atleast 1 TD.

I actually think Lane will compete at OU.

I also really like Notre Dame at home at night -1 vs Michigan.

i was thinking this, but then heard some talk this weekend that there are big issues with the Alabama D and that many expect UL to light them up.

Army is going to beat Duke

Not so sure. They are replacing their QB while Duke gets there's back along with their WR corp. Duke's D is also supposed to be pretty good this year.

I would take Richmond over UVA as the upset special.

Tulane is definitely the pick here. Not even much to debate compared to the other games. They are playing at home and return an experienced team including an all-conference QB. Wake is coming in trying to replace a lot on defense and their QB is suspended. Wake is starting a True Freshman at QB.
