ACC preseason media poll---Syracuse is 12th

On the mobile ESPN college football page, it has a tab "Rankings." Click it and it says AFCA Coaches Poll and we got 1 point in the "Others receiving votes" category. There is no link to share it. Maybe Fran showing love for his squad? It's a top 25 poll.

Yup. This was discussed a bit previously in this thread link below. I think 1 point means we got one person on the voting commitee slotting us in at #25. I think a #1 slot gets 25 points. My guess is how that works as there are 55 coaches voting on that poll and Georgia comes in at #1 with 1364 points. 1364 pts / 55 voters = 24.54 points/voter.

I specifically watched the BC - SMU bowl game last year to see what SMU was all about. I thought BC absolutely was more physical and dominated them on both sides of the ball

Fran Brown is focused on the Bobcats ( or will be starting August 24 ish ), that’s how you have winning football .

TY, I completely missed that thread...

That is correct. 25 pts for a number 1 vote and then count down all the way to 1 point for a number 25 vote like we got.

ACC preseason media poll

1-FSU (81 1st place votes)
2-Clemson (55)
3-Miami (17)
4-NC State (8)
5-Louisville
6-Virginia Tech (5)
7-SMU
8-UNC
9-Georgia Tech (1)
10-Cal (2)
11-Duke
12-Syracuse
13-Pitt
14-Boston College (1)
15-Wake Forest
16-Virginia
.17-Stanford

*Who voted for BC at 1?????
They just didn't know

They just didn't know
So my question. If you remove the bogus votes for #1 for Cal and GT which skew them up a bit what would the real results be.

With 2 first place votes Cal still only gets to 10th. So if they got 10-14th votes instead, we probably are ahead of them.

Read this yesterday, much more accurate. Although I still don't get the love for VT. Not sure what gets them in at 5. I think Louisville is 5. After that 6-11 are really all a crap shoot. The middle of the pack teams appear to have as much parity as ever.
Favorable schedule is a big part of the love for VT. That ands returning experience. I think Louisville could be very good because Brohm is the real deal, but if Shough gets hurt again, they may be limited at QB.

I know there is the narrative that we have a weak schedule but this is what it would have been like if we were in the ACC Coastal. We just don’t have FSU nor Clemson this year on the schedule. Oh what could have been over the last 10 years.

Thanks. I didn't realize how "favorable" their schedule was. Certainly set up well for them.

I think they will look past going to Syracuse to the Clemson game. And if they get to the Syracuse game no worse than 7-1, they will be ranked. An upset by the Orange then will be a huge deal.

I don’t see any path that gets three ACC team in - especially in this first year of the 12-team playoff.

If we get into the playoff i'll be completely blown away. Hope you're right and/or a time traveler.

9-3, 5-3 would be fine.

Beat GT and things open up. Should lead to 5-0 and big mo.

98 is the only season we beat VT and Miami the same year. Time to repeat that. VT hasn’t won in the Dome since Vick vs Freeney.

Well, while I’m in a why not mode, I can’t claim it as my own. I suck at posting stuff from Twitter and don’t really like supporting Musk, but this is from a tweet by someone that posts as Southern Charm Sports out of Alabama, with 46k posts and 3600 followers . I don’t know anything about them but appreciated that someone sees us there, and why not? We’ve got our best team in almost a generation and should scare anyone we play. Why not?

GT and VT are the keys to the season. I guess you could throw Pitt in there too. Yeah I know they’re bad, but I think they’ll bounce back a bit from last year and it’s down there and we haven’t had much success away. The game that worries me from a What standpoint is Stanford. Again, I know they’re bad, but I think the ACC will find that PAC-12 talent levels are higher on average than expected.

We made Narduzzi look stupid last season so I expect him to be motivated.

I'm not worried about it. He's still the guy that was dumb enough to keep his safeties 15 yards back when we were running every down. He's still an idiot.

But a motivated idiot.
