The one thing we can be certain about... the ACC will get screwed somehow. The B1G/SEC do what is in their own best interest. The ACC does what is best for football as a whole, apparently. Ridiculous. One can see why FSU and Clemson want out.

The SEC just announced they are going to a 9-game league schedule beginning in 2026. If the ACC doesn't follow suit, they will be the only power conference playing 8 games

They have to from a pure scheduling front I think. If the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 all have 9 conference games, the math doesn’t work unless you want to play more MAC and Conference USA teams than everyone else

Good. Now the NCAA has to do the same thing for college basketball.

‘M thinking all this friggin sucks to go to 9 conference games. It’s just BS. It’s the high rollers in the BIG and SEC running everything. 9 games isnt better for the game or the whole. Everything they do is to better to try to separate the elite from the others. The haves from the have nots. Why is that good? How about some diversity in who you play against.

The CFP just put more positive weight to strength of schedule it seems for both wins against strong teams and losses to strong teams. Guess why? To favor the BIG and SEC conferences. And these conferences move to up the number of conference games just to maximize money and push down other “lesser” conference teams and give them less of a shot to make the playoff. And how can you judge how good a team from one conference is to ones in others when nobody plays each other?

It’s like the political landscape in that money is in control of everything and there is no damn governance for what is best. Just a strong focus on how to get their biggest piece of the pie and push others down. Ugh.

9 is fine if at least two other games are p4 and the third a Mac. If there is a playoff you need to beat teams outside your conference.
On the uneven teams ND will help somewhat with that. Even though not in conference acc could consider it a conference game when a team needs a ninth conference game. Maybe it will get ND to join.
All may be a moot point in a couple years if there is a super conference or semi pro with the schools name.

The ACC is the only Power 4 conference not slated to play nine conference games. Discussions are underway, but how does the ACC get there.

The solution is just to bypass 9 games... and just require 10 P4 + ND games... and then count P4 +ND games in the standings. The ACC can claim superiority by requiring 10 P4/ND games (take that, Indiana).

This is all so stupid, every conference sticking their heads in the intraconference sand. There should be more interconference games, not fewer, and some of them should be mid-season.
