ACC Talent

What blowing up? Marrone took his ball and staff and left. And he was a conniving bs artist. Gross should've hired Golden if that was real.

This board was speculating on who should replace Marrone for 2013 from after the Rutgers loss until the Louisville win...then it died down. Reality in 2013 is that every coach should look to sell high so they don't end up like Tedford at Cal. Fans and programs are way too fickle and way to quick on the trigger for coaches to waste any time with loyalty.

The only gripe I have - and it's possible this was not intentional deceit, just a guy that was in the NFL and didn't really recognize how cutthroat college football had become - was Marrone saying this was his 'dream job'. I'll give him a pass on it, but have learned from the experience - anyone that says coming to Syracuse is his 'dream job' should be automatically disqualified from getting the job in the future.

Long winded way of saying if we'd hired Golden and had similar results/recruiting as we did under Marrone, he's have been gone this year too and we'd have some other mediocre schmuck running the show.

Tech fans around me were all in agreement that the flags were disgusting. There's no way a team that runs every play while chop blocking gets zero penalties for the game.

There were so many things about this game that was disgusting and the refs were one of them. I had that we're playing in their small gym home town right from the get go regarding these refs. I can't blame them but what they do is become a catalyst in the very beginning and make calls to stunt any kind of momentum early. These guys just continued to kick us in the balls even when we were down.

One of the best Quarterbacks in SU history, the best receiving duo in SU history, the best LT in SU history. Yeah, that's not special or anything.

...and we barely made a bowl game.

That's kind of my point, sir.

Also..."the best receiving duo in SU history"...

Shelby Hill and Marvin Harrison say no dice.

(Or Spotwood and KJ)

I just love the talent versus coaching debate, it usually means you suck no matter what way you look at it

Let the season play out. This is a horrendous performance today, but I'll reserve judgment until the season is over. If we lose to Wake, though, we're in trouble.

We're not beating Maryland.
Oh yes we are!

Saying we barely made a bowl game is a little bit of a stretch. We kicked ass down the stretch. This wasn't like Marrone's first bowl season, when we needed to sneak out a win over Rutgers just to qualify. By the end of the year last season, we were the best team in the Big East, and many of the pundits agreed with that sentiment.

It's night and day in terms of offensive talent between this year and last. And to add another name in there, we miss Chibane as well. Our two best OL (Hickey was arguably as good as Chibane, I guess) are gone in addition to the numerous others we lost.

Rob Moore and Tommy Kane - hands down.

8-5 in a so-so conference...with "one of the best Quarterbacks in SU history, the best receiving duo in SU history, the best LT in SU history."

I'm not doubting the talent was way, way better last year.

I'm saying we had 5 LOSSES with with that talent.

4 of those were without Pugh.
