Charlotte is named for Queen Charlotte of Sterlitz-Mecklenburg, wife of England's George III. (And thus the name of Mecklenburg County.) To keep this post on topic, King George III sucked at basketball. He tried to play intramural at a Div. III school but sat on the bench and never saw any playing time.

I don't remember a Queen Gadsden.
